All replies welcome, but I was not specific enough in my question as to what I prefer an answer to include, which is Scripture references. Original question: "What kind of things do and do not prove the genuineness of saving faith?" There was an oversight on my part when I submitted the original question. What I am looking for, but did not specify, is: Amended question: According to the Scriptures, what are the evidences of genuine saving faith? |

Dear JVH0212, The first thing that comes to mind is the fruit of the Spirit. "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law." Galatians 5:22,23 NASB Bear in mind that false versions of all of these are available in the world. For instance, smug, self-satisfaction in place of peace; Emotions or carnality in place of love; drink or drug-induced joy, etc. The fruit of the Spirit is lasting, and not dependent on external circumstance, but the indwelling of the Spirit of God. A good way to know if you have faith is obience as James so states, faith without works is dead. | ||||||
