1 | Beware "Another" | 2 Cor 11:4 | Victor529 | 156352 | ||
I wish to complain that this anti-Catholic poster is clearly violating forum rules with his "Gospel of Satan" faith-hate rant. Surely he is violating the following: "Pushing ones own personal and denominational views. Please limit, to the best of your ability, the known denominational biases that produce potential strife and undue conflict." Anti-Catholicism is more befitting of the Ku Klux Klan than among committed Christians. It is a centuries old American prejudice. IT DOESN'T BELONG HERE. |

Victor529, No one denomination or individual has the rite to claim leadership or supremacy over Gods Church. May I refer you to 1 Peter 2:9,1 Corinthians 11:3,Ephesians 5:23 Jesus Christ is the head of Gods Church and Gods church comprises all who truly confess Jesus Christ as Lord and savior. (Acts 2:38,Romans 10:9,10) I read Docs post and then I reread it and I dont see him call anyone a satanist. I see solid scriptural guidence done with a godly heart. This is'nt about crucifying anyone or any denomination,it is about loving God and loving each other and helping each other to stay faithful.This has nothing to do with predjudice and everything to do with our walk with God. Victor look at things with the heart of God and you will see things in a whole different way. In Christ, lionheart |

We can also learn from Victor here. When the Pope points to Christ, we should celebrate this, for as LionHeart has said, all who follow Christ are the church. There are different ways to organize a church. Are there problems with Catholic hierarchy... Probably. Are there problems with community churches that spring up all over the place, and are accountable to no larger body... Probably. Every way we have of organizing ourselves will have problems, for we are fallen people. The new testament has many examples of hierarchy (Paul emphasizing his authority, and appointing leaders to keep congregations growing in the right direction. like Titus 1:5) and also many examples of diverse leaders under Christ (1 Corinthians 3:5) Doc, your initial post implies that the Pope was pointing to Another Christ,or Another Gospel. When so many Catholics are true believers, this is objectionable. Expecially since you didnt explain the grounds for your criticism. Furthermore, the Pope s comments about avoiding a consumer attitude to religion is certainly a worthy critique of much contemporary faith practice. It is better to hear the wisdom in the words, than to be dismissive. JRM (PS -- I am writing from a French computer, and the forum is not allowing me to use question marks or quotation marks or appostrophes... sorry for the weirdness that causes) |
