1 | face to face a person are place? | 1 Cor 13:10 | DocTrinsograce | 196644
Dear Who, I'm not sure why it happens, but from time to time we get people coming to the forum, who post a question to which they render up all kinds of answers themselves. I suppose it is people who are posing a leading question in order to provide themselves with a platform from which to pontificate their own pet positions. Or maybe they simply like to argue. Either way, it ends in providing very little that is edifying to the readers -- as gracious communication of believers ought to do. Adopting a profile name, and placing in the description assertions of our spirituality, means less than nothing when we contravene it by our posts. And believe me when I say, those kinds of folks come and go from the SBF with unsettling regularity. Searcher and I have given you the orthodox Christian interpretation of these verses. It is an interpretation based on a sound hermeneutic, and tested for twenty centuries of scholarly Biblical study. If you have a differing interpretation, we'd be happy to hear it. However, a good exegete will explain the logic by which they arrived at that interpretation. Simply restating the your conclusion is neither instructive or persuasive. In Him, Doc |

2 | face to face a person are place? | 1 Cor 13:10 | who_is_holy | 196651
With all due respect for the last 20 centuries of Orthodox interpretation based on sound hemeneutics and scholarly research, understanding and revelation comes from God Proverbs 1:23, "I will pour out my spirit upon you, I will make known my words unto you." Jesus opened up the understanding of the scriptures to his disciples. For decades they had the scriptures and didn't understand them, Luke 24:45. The Pharisees studied the scriptures and didn't understand them. The spirit reveals what the word is saying. Not decades of Orthodox and scholarly research nor sound hemeneutics as you put it. I respect those studies but understanding of the scriptures comes from God.

It seems that you have an agenda or an ax to grind as it were since you posted the same message twice at two different times, exhibiting that it wasn’t an accident: once at 10:43 then again at 11:00 with the same information. Are we to infer something as a result of this action? The form list the following information: Pushing ones own personal and denominational views Please limit, to the best of your ability, the known denominational biases that produce potential strife and undue conflict. Please avoid interjecting obvious denominational biases, especially when urged by peers to cease. Otherwise, it becomes a battle of wills, and only tears down morale and causes division. If we are notified that this situation is occurring we will review it and act as necessary. CDBJ |
