1 | Do holy people have to speak in tongues? | 1 Cor 12:30 | ezekiel | 28687 | ||
Light Angle: I have experenced the Baptism of the Holy Ghost and Spoke in other tongues as the Spirit gave the utterance,It is truly Joy Unspeakable and Full of Glory and it is a Free gift from God. Why would we not want to recieve it when the Holy Gives you power to witness change your life style guide you in your life and on and on i could go. But see if the Following helps you any study these pages and Scriptures and decide for yourself about recieving the Spirit of truth and grace and Joy that surpasses all understanding. Spirit. The Spirit is our rest, guide to all truth, adopter, intercessor, sanctifier, seal, and the earnest of our inheri-tance (Isaiah 28:11-12; John 16:13; Romans 8:15, 26; Ephesians 1:13-14; I Peter 1:2). Someone can receive the Spirit by repenting, having faith in God, and asking God for His gift. We should always expect speaking in tongues when someone receives the Holy Spirit. Tongues do not save in any sense, but the Spirit baptism produces tongues as the initial sign. Once a person receives the Spirit, he has power to overcome sin and live a holy life (Acts 1:8; Romans 8:4, 13). If we let Him continually fill (control and guide) us, we will bear the fruit of the Spirit and become Christ-like (Galatians 5:22-23). What is the status of a person who repents and is bap-tized, thereby receiving remission of sins, but does not receive the Holy Spirit? He cannot be condemned for sins that are remitted, yet he cannot enter the kingdom of God without the birth of the Spirit and the holiness imparted by the Holy Spirit. Some suppose he will inherit the new earth, although the Bible does not explicitly say so. Jesus has commanded him to be baptized with the Spirit, and for Jesus to be complete Lord of his life he must obey (Luke 24:49; John 20:22; Acts 1:4-5). |

Scripture ... Luke 24:49; John 20:22; Acts 1:4-5 ... ezekiel, Please support what you said Scriptually. You said, "It is truly Joy Unspeakable and Full of Glory and it is a Free gift from God. Why would we not want to recieve it when the Holy Gives you power to witness change your life style guide you in your life." Please support this Scriptually. What about the other gifts He gives? Doesn't this happen when we become Christians, not when we use our gifts? You said, "Asking God for His gift." Please support this Scriptually when it refers to anything thing else but the gift of eternal life. Do you ask for a certain gift from someone who is very powerful? Then you are rude. You said, "We should always expect speaking in tongues when someone receives the Holy Spirit." Please support this Scriptually. Did the 3,000, those later, the eunuch (Acts 2:41,47; 4:31; 8:36) speak in tongues? There are other examples in Acts. You said, "Spirit baptism produces tongues as the initial sign." Please support this Scriptually. Did Paul speak in tongues "as the initial sign" (Acts 9:5-19)? You said, "What is the status of a person who repents and is bap-tized, thereby receiving remission of sins, but does not receive the Holy Spirit? He cannot be condemned for sins that are remitted, yet he cannot enter the kingdom of God without the birth of the Spirit and the holiness imparted by the Holy Spirit." Please support this Scriptually. 1) Why must one repent and be baptized for receiving remission of sins? 2) How can one who has receivied the remission of sins not enter enter the kingdom of God? You said, "Jesus has commanded him to be baptized with the Spirit, and for Jesus to be complete Lord of his life he must obey (Luke 24:49; John 20:22; Acts 1:4-5)." -Luke 24:49 is the comand to wait for the promise of the Father. -John 20:22 is where the 11 received the Holy Spirit. Or were they waiting for Him? -Acts 1:4-5 is a another account of Luke 24:49, which happened after John 20:22. They were promised to be baptized with the Holy Spirit. They were never commanded to be baptized with the Holy Spirit. Please support what you said with other Scriptures. Now for other questions ... -Did you know that Satan has copied this gift? -When you "speak in tongues" is it in public? If so, does someone interpert? -When you "speak in tongues" is it in private? Please support this Scriptually, that God gave this gift to be used in private. Searcher |

Answers to Study Forum Questions Question 1 You said, "Asking God for His gift." Please support this Scriptually when it refers to anything thing else but the gift of eternal life. Do you ask for a certain gift from someone who is very powerful? Then you are rude. Answer 1. Mat 7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: Luk 11:9 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. 1Co 14:1 Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy. My Friend you may thank it (Rude) But Jesus Christ is the Lord of My Life, and without him I'm nothing he manages my life for me, in everything I go to him, in asking him for Spiritual Gifts that I might better serve him and of that I'am not ashamed. Let tell you a bit about myself God put a call on my life when I was very young,but I didn't heed that call I went on through High School, Got a Job, Got Married,and Got divorced remarried again a couple of years latter My wife of 34yrs now had two sons. Things were going pretty good in our lives but we weren't in church Finally in my late 20's we started going to this little country church, I repented of my sins and was Baptised immersed in water in a neighbors lake. Again God put a call on my life to serve him, I was seriously considering going to Bible College,by this time My sons were in their teenage years, we started to have a few problems with our oldest son, Got involved with drugs, runins with the Law and over a period of time he finally wound up in Jail. Now you can imagine all the things we were going through as a family, needless to say I didn't handle it very well instead of drawing closer to God, I thought I could handle this situation, or anything(PRIDE GOT IN THE WAY SIN). Again I turned from Jesus, It took almost another twenty years, before I came to my knees. Sometimes God allows things to take place in our lives to turn us toward home. one foggy December night about 2:00 am we got a knock on our front door. Earlier that month our son had been arrested and put in Jail. their was a Deputy at the door our son had hanged himself was not expected to live he was in the hospital. We drove their as fast as we could, I knew the ambulance attendance personnelly I ask them what they thought answer we don't think your son will live. BUT BY GODS GRACE AND MERCY HE DID LIVE I GOT DOWN ON MY KNEES AND BEGGED GOT TO SPARE MY SONS LIFE AND I WOULD FOREVER SERVE HIM. I went into an Old Pentcostal Church I went to the alter I repented of my sins, I wept, I cried, I poured my heart out to God asking his forgiveness, turned away from my sin. A few days latter I was baptized in Jesus name (and theirs a difference) a month later in August I recieved the Baptism of the Holy Ghost at a camp meeting and I spoke in tongues as the spirit gave the utterance just like the day of pentecost, but that wasn't all that very night I was delivered from alcohol and tobacco, the Lord took all that business away from me.( satan isn't gonna counterfiet that). My life has never been better since I recieved the Holy Ghost, My family is in church, I'm serving God I'm now at 54yrs old going into the ministry and I working hard. My oldest son unfortunitly is still living a life of sin but I keep praying he be saved Lord whatever it takes save him. Now I've said all of that to say this THE ACTS 2:38 MESSAGE IS THE PLAN OF SALVATION. Many think Pentecost is a denomanation it is not its an experence exactly like the upperoom and the 120 people that were their. I will answer your other questions on another post. |

ezekiel, what a wonderful testimony you have. Praise the LORD and all HIS grace. IF you have a chance, in the search part of this forum, type in Acts 2:6 as the search area. Read all the posts given by all the writers and readers. I truly hope you will be blessed by all of our words of affirmation, encouragement, love and understanding. The Word of God is so very important for our lives. John 15:7 says, "If You abide in ME and my WORDS abide IN YOU, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you." IF we are truly abiding in HIM as a branch of HIS true vine, then we wont let our experiences be the only thing that holds us to HIM. Let us keep praising HIM for these things and continue to use them to show others (not of HIM) how HE has saved, healed, delivered us from ourselves. We really dont need to use our experiences to prove to our brothers we are saved or have unfailing faith. The Holy Spirit gives us gifts as HE wills for one reason. In 1 Corinthians 12,13,14 we learn why and what for. All gifts are for ONE specific reason and that is to EDIFY THE CHURCH. Let us all continue in this way and ALSO continue in abiding in Jesus and and WORDS. May HE Bless you continually, **SHALOM** D |
