You say 'tongues "usually" accompanied being filled by the spirit' however I have proven otherwise. If you read 1 Cor 12, you should see that it is the Spirit who gives as He choses ... no where does it say we are to ask. Nonetheless, tongues is always a known language to at least one of the listeners on earth. |

Searcher, in the biblical passages wherein "tongues" always pertains to a foreign language, it seems to me that much confusion would have been spared certain readers had the translators of the earlier English versions simply have said "foreign language." It's that mystical word "tongues" that excites the imagination and leads to frequent misinterpretation. Am I wrong? --Hank | ||||||

I would even say arrogant ignorance for some. They think their speaking in a special tongue is spiritual ... while there is proof that the devil does the same. I know people have given given the special gift of speaking another known language without training. S |
