Megiddo, You said: "...the only way you will bring them "out of darkness" is by love and mercy...not condemnation..not by shaming them as one of you said very early on in this conversation." Well, what does the bible say about how to deal with the unrepentant one. We are not speaking of those that never came to Jesus, of course we want to attract them. But, it must be made clear that a change in life stile is required: 2 Thes 3 13But as for you, brethren, do not grow weary in doing good. 14And if anyone does not obey our word in this epistle, note that person and do not keep company with him, that he may be ashamed. 15Yet do not count him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother. 1 Corinthians 5 1 It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and such sexual immorality as is not even named[1] among the Gentiles--that a man has his father's wife! 2And you are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he who has done this deed might be taken away from among you. 3For I indeed, as absent in body but present in spirit, have already judged (as though I were present) him who has so done this deed. 4In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when you are gathered together, along with my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, 5deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.[2] 6Your glorying is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump? 7Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us.[3] 8Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. 9 I wrote to you in my epistle not to keep company with sexually immoral people. 10Yet I certainly did not mean with the sexually immoral people of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world. 11But now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone named a brother, who is sexually immoral, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner--not even to eat with such a person. 12For what have I to do with judging those also who are outside? Do you not judge those who are inside? 13But those who are outside God judges. Therefore "put away from yourselves the evil person." You spoke of homosexuals that called themselves Christians. Why do you seem to ignore the scriptures for what you think is right in your own eyes? Or maybe you simply were not aware of these scriptures? Pastor Glenn |

Pastor Glenn, Corinthians also tell us that marrying is just for the weak who cannot otherwise have a sexual outlet. DO you beleive that a lot of these statements were made as a broad sweep of all Christians, or as advice to the early churches- for as I remember God wishes us married, not just together so that we don't become perverts.....it's important to remember who is speaking in some of the later books of the New Testament. Do I dispute the words...NO I do not. But there is a specific context for some fo these statements. As for what is right in my eyes....someone asked me to define what being a homosexual is. I am a heterosexual so obviously I feel this is the most natural and the most beneficial to God's plan. So right to me is :And he made them man and woman so that a man might leave his father and mother and cleave to the woman.- IS that clear to you? :) Now you say we should not even keep company with them...or did you quote that scripture for another reason...because if you believe that then there is no way to approach what we would call salvation for them? If you believe that they will not be saved as homosexuals..then there is nothing more for you to do with them...so be it...GOd will judge them....so move on...let them be...and teach your children well. Does that sound reasonable- or will you play God's wrath...GOd's punishment upon those you find abominable? |

Megiddo, You said: ".....it's important to remember who is speaking in some of the later books of the New Testament. Do I dispute the words...NO I do not. But there is a specific context for some fo these statements." Yes, there is a specific context for some of these statments of Paul. However, there is no doubt, he gives the specific context: 1 Corinthians 5 1 It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and such sexual immorality as is not even named[1] among the Gentiles--that a man has his father's wife! 2And you are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he who has done this deed might be taken away from among you. 3For I indeed, as absent in body but present in spirit, have already judged (as though I were present) him who has so done this deed. 4In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when you are gathered together, along with my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, 5deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. "Now you say we should not even keep company with them...or did you quote that scripture for another reason...because if you believe that then there is no way to approach what we would call salvation for them? " Please pay close attention to all that Paul says. It does indeed apply to all real churches of Jesus Christ. You are not denying my words, this scripture is God's word. Paul deals with your concern about the homosexuals that have not yet come to Jesus' Church. Again I say, once a person has come, the first step is repentance. If they have repented, they should not feel comfortable with a life style of sin. They must also be held accountable by their church and be willing to submit to the church's rebuke. A person that truly wants God to change them looks forward to having that testimony of how God delivered them from sin. This is how we overcome the devil: Rev 12 11And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. Paul seeks a change in them so they may become "overcomers": 9 I wrote to you in my epistle not to keep company with sexually immoral people. Therefore "put away from yourselves the evil person." "If you believe that they will not be saved as homosexuals..then there is nothing more for you to do with them...so be it...GOd will judge them....so move on...let them be...and teach your children well." Again, they do not have to remain homosexual. You seem to assume that they cannot change. But look at what Jesus said: Matt 19 25When His disciples heard it, they were greatly astonished, saying, "Who then can be saved?" 26But Jesus looked at them and said to them, "With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." "Does that sound reasonable- or will you play God's wrath...GOd's punishment upon those you find abominable?" No. God wants to change them from the inside out. Pastor Glenn |
