1 | To be saved must we be baptised? | Acts 2:38 | gracefull | 78125
Hi disciplerami, What do you mean..without the works there is no faith? The scripture says that faith without works is dead. Faith is active not passive.Hope is passive. Faith acted on is works but works do not produce faith. Faith that does not work is not faith. Faith hears the Word then says 'I believe God' and then acts in obedience to that Word. 'By faith in Christ' Here again one hears the Word and believes with the heart(faith) THEN acts accordingly. The acts of obedience are the result of a changed heart, not the heart changing after we act. Faith is HEART BELIEF in which the actions or works follow. God bless, |

3 | To be saved must we be baptised? | Acts 2:38 | gracefull | 78218
I wonder if the question/adversity here is the defining of the word 'works'. Jesus said that the works He did, greater works would we do... So 'works' is not a bad word. The problem I see is when one believes the works are the WAGES of salvation rather than the RESPONESE of a changed heart. Believers are to work the works of God by faith in God to produce the desired results..ie souls born into the kingdom, delivered from the authority of darkness. God bless! |

4 | To be saved must we be baptised? | Acts 2:38 | disciplerami | 78240
Good point. Works are not a bad word. It only becomes bad when someone is doing them with the Pharisaical attitude in mind, 'what a good boy am I.' Those who are on the other side of this debate will reply that the good 'works' you are describing are done by God. It sounds a little strange when the Bible tells us to 'WORK OUT YOUR SALVATION WITH FEAR AND TREMBLING.' They always quote the next verse but their interpretation of it negates this verse. Nice hearing from you. God bless, Disciplerami |

5 | To be saved must we be baptised? | Acts 2:38 | gracefull | 78266
Phil.2:12-13 So, my dear friends, just as you have always obeyed when I was with you, it is even more important that you obey now when I am away from your: keep working our your deliverance with fear and trembling, for God is the one working among you both the willing and the working for what pleases Him. Salvation being the process of gaining and walking in the blessings and deliverance provided through Jesus Christ. This SALVATION is not ETERNAL LIFE spoken of in John 3:16, but rather a continual process of growth. I think we believers tend to use these two interchangaly as I did in my previous post in error. We read 'eternal life' and think 'salvation' or we read 'salvation' and think 'eternal life'. I should have said that works are not the 'Wages' of obtaining eternal life. Our effort is to believe God and act on His word, and HE provides the increase. If I believe God for my provision based on His Word and act in obedience, He will provide. It is a covenant with both parties involved. God is the one who brings souls into the Kingdom but we are the one's who preach and teach the truth. God is the one who delivers by His power but He works through us. Collosians 1:9-13 Therefore, from the day we heard of it, we have not stopped praying for you, asking God to fill you with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and understanding which the Spirit gives; so that you may live lives worthy of the Lord and entirely pleasing to Him, being fruitful in every good work and multiplying in the full knowledge of God. We pray that you will be continually strengthened with alL the power that comes from His glorious might...giving thanks to the Father for having made you fit to share in the inheritance of His people in the light. God empowers us with His Spirit and enlightens us with His Word to know His will and do His service. But we are not puppets, therefore we must act or do or work the works He has called and equiped us to do. From this perspective, it IS God's work, and it is God's equiping and our yielded will and vessel. A COVENANT WORK. God bless |

This is a repost ... The working out our salvation is like when we get a transplant (heart, liver ...) we do not pay for the organ, it is given. But, while it is ours, free ... we need to do something to use it fully.
