1 | Abstaining from things strangled, blood? | Acts 15:20 | skccab | 192167
Hi Doc, I thank you for your encouragement. I'm just trying to find the "happy medium," if you will, between what the church has become (of which I really don't want to be a part) and what it started out to be before the break between the Jewish believers and the non-Jewish believers. And I really do believe that there is such a place. I don't believe that we as believers are under any "bondage" to the Torah, but I do believe that it is not to be tossed away as unneedful. I've been studying Torah with the same fervor that I have previously studied the Gospels and Letters, and it is opening up my understanding of the Gospels and Letters (and the Acts, as well) like never before. I'm seeing and understanding things that never made sense before. And you are absolutely right, following Torah will do nothing, on its own, outside of the work of Yeshua. I too like the term "kind advisor", that's nice; but I also see Torah as a Lamp that just keeps burning brighter and brighter the more I delve into it. As you stated - thru the power of the Holy Spirit we are able to live in compliance with the moral law of God - but we have to know what that moral law is. Yes? And I believe that it's found in its fulness in the Torah. Once again, thanks for your encouragement. Still searching, Cheri |

This thread is impressive. Besides being a friendly exchange among all participants, it offers worthwhile insignts, fine questions followed by equally fine responses. I said to myself as I read through this thread, "Now this is how the Forum ought to be!" Blessings to all of you who have had a hand in building this truly worthwhile thread. --Hank

7 | Abstaining from things strangled, blood? | Acts 15:20 | skccab | 192213
Azure, You didn't embarrass me. My own stupidity did. I should have been clearer that I KNEW Doc wasn't really yelling. He might be firm, but I see him as St John speaks of - a father - and sometimes we "little children" and "young sons" need someone with some righteous firmness to step in and shake us up a bit. He's a dear, and so are you. Cheri |

Ah.....He's not that old and we are not that young either. Psalm 133 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brothers to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious oil upon the head, Coming down upon the beard, Even Aaron's beard, It is like the dew of Hermon Coming down upon the mountains of Zion; For there the LORD commanded the blessing--life forever. :-) Azure |

9 | Abstaining from things strangled, blood? | Acts 15:20 | skccab | 192218
Good morning Azure, John wasn't talking about years, but in maturity (and I love these verses): 1Jn 2:12 I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name's sake. 1Jn 2:13 I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father. 1Jn 2:14 I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one. Don't you just love those verses too? I know you knew what I was talking about but I printed them cos they are so rich. Not at all a bad thing being a "father." I would that I were there at my late age :-). But even the writer of those words had to take his baby steps, no? Cheri |

Ha..Ha.. This time you did not see my smiley face!!! We better stop here, otherwise we violate the terms of use. Gal 5:22-23 ...the fruit of the Spirit is ... self-control; against such things there is no law. Shalom Azure |
