1 | Abstaining from things strangled, blood? | Acts 15:20 | Wild Olive Shoot | 192130
So maybe it was given in the spirit of what Paul later wrote? The following as examples: 1Corinthians 10:25-33: v32 Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God: Romans chapter 14 v14 I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean. v21 It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak. It comes down to promoting peace and harmony and not offending fellow believers? Am I thinking this through correctly? Stand in His grace, WOS |

2 | Abstaining from things strangled, blood? | Acts 15:20 | skccab | 192132
WOS, It took me so long to get my post written you already had posted again. I'm very slow, I only know "by heart" a few verses, so it takes me awhile to find what I know is there. I think you have it right about the actual distinction between clean and unclean foods - but the strangled and the blood fall into a different category. From what I understand the edict against things strangled is that the life breath was cut off, it wasn't a clean slaughter; and the blood as we all know represents the life and we should not ingest the life's blood of a living thing. I'm very new to all this so if I am wrong, I really would appreciate correction and will give you my apology now, WOS. Cheri |
