1 | Why only take two of the five? | Acts 10:48 | Morant61 | 54006 | ||
Greetings Searcher! I don't accept the text of Mark 16:9-20 as original, so it is hard to comment on this particular passage. However, I believe the basic principles are valid today as expressed in the following: 1) The ability to drive out demons. 2) The Gift of Tongues. 3) Divine protection. 4) The Gift of Healing. These are all Biblical. I don't see any indication in Scripture that they have ceased to be valid for today. The only one specifically mentioned as ceasing at some point is the gift of tongues. However, Scripture simply says that they will cease when that which is perfect has come. Some believe this a reference to the Bible. Myself, I think it is a reference to the fullness of the Kingdom of God. We won't need any of the gifts of the Spirit then! ;-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

Greetings Tim! AMEN to your post! You wrote: "Scripture simply says that they will cease when that which is perfect has come. Some believe this a reference to the Bible." Since it was "physically" written by sinful man, how could the Bible be perfect? Would we consider the law, as written by the finger of God on tablets of stone to be PERFECT? Since God alone is PERFECT, perhaps this is a reference to the perfection that will come when God's Word will be written on the hearts of those who love Him? (Yes, in the Kingdom! Jer. 31:33 Hebrews 8:10) Just musing here . . . Blessings, Mommapbs |
