1 | How can 1 Cor 14:14 be your reference? | John 4:23 | prazn | 122521 | ||
You're right, our Lord Jesus Christ used the very same technique when the Pharisees asked Him a question that He was not compelled to answer: Mark 11:27 They came again to Jerusalem. And as He was walking in the temple, the chief priests and the scribes and the elders came to Him, Mark 11:28 and began saying to Him, "By what authority are You doing these things, or who gave You this authority to do these things?" Mark 11:29 And Jesus said to them, "I will ask you one question, and you answer Me, and then I will tell you by what authority I do these things. Mark 11:30 "Was the baptism of John from heaven, or from men? Answer Me." Mark 11:31 They began reasoning among themselves, saying, "If we say, 'From heaven,' He will say, 'Then why did you not believe him?' Mark 11:32 "But shall we say, 'From men'?"--they were afraid of the people, for everyone considered John to have been a real prophet. Mark 11:33 Answering Jesus, they said, "We do not know." And Jesus said to them, "Nor will I tell you by what authority I do these things." Searcher, are you in love with our Lord? peace, prazn |

prazn, Let me interject here a moment, if I may:-) I second Tim's call to be careful not to call into question one's relationship with the Lord simply because you disagree with them! We should be able to reason together- and agree to disagree- if need be without name calling or placing a determination on someone's eternal destiny. One is not "more" or "less" spiritual because they believe the gift(s) (of tongues) are still in operation or not. As I said before, it does come down to a matter of interpretation and our orientation and understanding of scripture. None of us agree one every point of doctrine- and that SHOULD NOT be the test of fellowship! Good believers on either side have come to different conclusions. It's OK to disagree. prazn, I think my friends may be implying your quoting 1 Corinthians 2:14 to me. I was alittle offended, and you are forgiven. I need to ask for your forgiveness, too. I have a problem when people twist Scripture. I have made adjustments in my life on what I have been taught. I am willing to make them today, tho I doubt I will make any on the issue of tongues. I also have a problem when people use experiences over the truth of Scripture. You may think my view of Romans 12:1 and other things are narrow. However, I look at the Greek and know what it says. I do most translations use the word worship and I have proven why that is not correct, from my view. I know you read my profile, where I include a comment about "experts". I think most of the church is missing the differences between praise, worship and service ... even blending two or all three together. Searcher |
