May I suggest to you that the only worthwhile objective of a "sincere student of the Bible" is to get to know the Author better, day by day. Our walk with the Lord Jesus Christ is not about ritual or scholarship; it is about relationship. Oftentimes, we cover-up our lack of relationship with the Lord by exalting our selves through religiosity and other intellectual pursuits cloaked under the deceptive garb of pseudo-spirituality. I pray, Hank, that you are not one of those who have never had an intimate encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ. You sound really smart (I'm impressed), but the Lord has said through His servant Paul, "Let no one deceive himself. If any one among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God." - 1 Cor 3:18-19 respectfully (a fool for Christ), prazn |

prazn: 1 Corinthians 3:18,19 is NOT a call for Christians to check their brains in at the door when they attend worship or engage in Bible study! The Bible does not promise that knowledge of the word of God comes without the diligent exertion of all the brains and energy that God endowed human beings with. Yes, the indwelling Holy Spirit guides His children mightily into all truth, but at the same time, His children are not relieved of their human responsibility to be diligent to present themselves approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth. (See 2 Timothy 2:15). ..... Be careful what you hint at on this Forum, friend. I'm speaking directly about your statement, "I pray, Hank, that you are not one of those who have not had an intimate encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ." ..... Read ALL my more than 4,500 posts and cite just ONE that leads you to question my relationship with the Lord Jesus. --Hank | ||||||
