Okay, but why cant we tell them while we are sitting down to dinner in their house? Jesus ate with sinners, but He doesn't condone sin, nor do I believe we would be doing by being under their roof shearing a meal with them. I think we can do that without condoning their sin. The point I was trying to make (perhaps not too well) was; what's the difference? And you agree we shouldn't and, really we cant avoid everyone. So telling someone we cant eat under their roof with them because they are sinners would mean we better not eat under the roof of anyone who is a sinner. (i.e. not born again) How far are we to take it? I understand the symbolism of being under their roof but..... Anyway: Glad to hear you had a good day Sis, I just finished dinner and sat down to my computer to find your note. :-) Good discussion. Val, this is too much fun and maybe it's getting a little close to chatting, but hey it's a holiday right? :-) God bless John |

Hey John, Your point is well taken. I may be mistaken here, but I think one of the concerns in the original post was being an example to a child. That is, would it appear as condoning living together to the child if we were visit this couple in their home? It was the eyes and mind of the child that was really the focus. That's why I suggested what I did. If I've remembered wrong, please forgive and ignore :o) Cheri |

A child's ears, eyes and mind would be all the more reason for me to go and share the Gospel with a warm loving heart toward all. John |

Peace and blessings be with you (John, Val and Cheri) in Thanksgiving. May I offer a bit of my thought that while we may want to set an example in front of our children and wisely interact with our unbelieving neighbours, pray before hand is a must as you have suggested. Do you think it also help to find the chance to read them scriptures which speak about God's condemnation of sin and His planned salvation and blessings for us? Sometimes we do not need to talk too much, but just let the Holy Word do everything for us. This is also an example we set before our children to rely on the Word. Shalom Azure |

Hello Azure, thank you for your gracious welcome. Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving? Is it Thanksgiving in the place you live? You are exactly right. We can never move forward without the direct guidance of our Lord through prayer and His word. We can think of what we would do in situations but we must ask Him first what we are to do. I think of David when he remembered to ask the Lord what to do, he was told specifically how to interact with others. It was when he ventured out on his own that he got in a pickle but the Lord was still gracious to him and helped get him out of his trouble. Depending on the type relationship one has with a couple it would almost be impossible to point an across the board response. Each relationship and response should be brought earnestly to the Lord in prayer and act as He directs in agreement with a daily study of the scriptures. I find He talks to me through the word and supplies an answer to my daily problems and questions day by day. Frankly I wouldn't know what to tell anyone what to do but to seek the Lord's guidance in the way you have so plainly suggested. Thank you for your thoughts dear one and for John and Cheri. All of you have good insights. I learn so much from you and am thankful for you on this Thanksgiving Day. Blessings, Val | ||||||
