Thanks for yor answer. I read your post 151193 and will read it many more times for greater understanding. This person still has faith but it is ' hanging by a thread'. Another person I saw threw his Bible down and walked away. That person is in my prayers also. I rely on the verse Romans 8: 38-39 alot when I think of these people and ask God to let me and my family be faithful always. Seedling |

Dear Seedling, When I was working in the prison ministry, something interesting took place. One of the inmates was released on parole earlier than expected. As he was cleaning out his things, he took his Bible, loudly proclaiming to the other inmates "I don't need this anymore!" and threw it in the trash can. Twenty-four hours he was killed by being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Now, I'm not saying that this man's death was a direct result of his spurning the Word; however, the rest of inmates thought so, and we had little difficulty with disrespect for years following. It is difficult to get people to realize that at any given moment they are a heartbeat away from standing before God. It is only by the grace of God that we continue to live a moment longer. How awful it is for those who are not prepared to stand before Him. No one expresses the precarious circumstances of such people more eloquently than Jonathan Edwards in his famous sermon. http://www.jonathanedwards.com/sermons/Warnings/sinners.htm In Him, Doc |

Hi Doc, Basically the same thing happened at our church. A man and his wife walked in and sat down. In the middle of the Pastor's sermon the man got up and walked out of the auditorium. Gently, the Pastor excused himself, right in the middle of the sermon, and went outside to talk to the man. The man was in his car behind the wheel waiting for his wife. The Pastor asked him what was wrong, and the man said, "I don't believe this stuff and never will". He fell against the steering wheel dead that very moment. (Psalms 66:5 KJV) Come and see the works of God: he is terrible in his doing toward the children of men. terrib |
