Bible Note: CONCERNING LOOSING ONE'S SALVATION - PART IV In the lord's prayer (Mt 6:9-15) we are taught to forgive all who offend us and ask for forgiveness if we have sinned. Some believe that it doesn't matter if a christian live in sin or not, but it does, as stated in the following passages: 1 Co 6:9-11 "Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God." Comments: It may cause eternal damnation, i.e. those who continue in the above mentioned sins will not "inherit the kingdom of God" (since Paul is teaching believers about sin in this passage). Mt 18:15-17 sais that we should help one another to repent from sin, without gossiping, and according to Gal 6:1 we should... "restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted." There are many other New Testament scriptures which warns believers from allowing sin to continue in our lives. If you still have doubts I recommend you to read Hebrews for example verses like: 4:11 "Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience." Heb 10:26 "For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries." Heb 12:4 "You have not yet resisted to bloodshed, striving against sin." Heb 12:25 "See that you do not refuse Him who speaks. For if they did not escape who refused Him who spoke on earth, much more shall we not escape if we turn away from Him who speaks from heaven," Heb 12:14 "Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord:" SALVATION BY (THE POWER OF) GRACE Salvation comes certainly not by our works, but by His (Jesus) deeds. Nevertheless, by searching through the whole gospel (by which a few verses as stated above has been extracted) it is obvious that salvation is not unconditional. Before forgiveness comes repentence, and without sanctification (repentence from sin) no one will see the Lord. Nevertheless, the only way to overcome sin is by using your mouth and confessing it to God, as the prodigal son did and as in 1 Jn 1:9. I ask you with all of my heart, do not deny the power of godliness which may give you a truly repentent heart and may keep you in holyness in Jesus name. 2 Ti 3:1-5 "But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5having A FORM OF GODLINESS BUT DENYING ITS POWER. And from such people turn away!" Comments: If Paul and Timothy was taught to turn away from people with such behaviour, God would also. There is power in the blood of the Lamb to cleanse hearts!
