Bible Note: Dear S. W., Your citing and comments regarding Matthew 13:40-42 suffers from the same eisegesis of Matthew 7:21-23. Consequently, see my rebuttal in post 152669. Your citing and comments regarding Matthew 15:18-20 are contrary to other passages of Scripture that specifically state that believers do not practice these behaviors. This passage does not, therefore, support your thesis of a kind of slippery salvation. Your citing and comments regarding Matthew 18:7-9 have nothing to do with the position you are attempting to validate. You cite, "And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem." (Luke 24:46-47) You write, "There is no gospel without repentence." (sic) I concur. You continue, "if repentence comes before remission of sins, what happens if you abandon your repentence?" (sic) How do you conclude that repentance comes before remission of sins? The statement by our Lord is a conjunction, not a causal sequence. Please see my post on the theological term ordo salutis (151193). Also, see my post on conversion where I properly define repentance (151653). In Him, Doc PS I apologize, but I will need to deal with your "parts 3 and 4" tomorrow. |
