1 | Two beginnings? | John 1:1 | chemprof | 106531
Most Bibles use, as a cross reference to John 1:1, Genesis 1:1. I'm thinking that "beginning" here means two different things. In Genesis beginning refers to the earth after the fall of Satan. In John 1:1, the beginning refers to before all time...."The" beginning. Any comments?

Greetings and welcome to the Forum! My initial (reasoning) response is that since God is eternal, He has no beginning or end. If something has a beginning (or genesis), it is a created thing; it therefore is not God. Even when Jesus appeared in the flesh He announced "before Abraham was born, I AM." (John 8:58) He always existed; He had no beginning. Eternity past had no beginning either, therefore the beginning in both Genesis and and John could be the same event in time. "In the beginning GOD," and "In the beginning was the Word,"further expands our information about the nature of the Godhead "in the beginning!" Just some thoughts for you to consider! Blessings mommapbs PS: As a scientist, how does first law of theromdynamics or the conservation of matter align with God's Word? Once created, what happens to it? Can it be destroyed? ie. once created is it infinite in existence? I think about these things sometimes . . . |

We now know Enery can be converted into matter and vice versa. Thus Einstein's E equals mass x the speed of light squared. I see no problem with spiritual energy being converted into matter (or healing.....e.g. the woman with the issue of blood). This would follow from the Hebrew bara (created ex nihilo...out of nothing, except maybe energy). Of course, God is not constrained to operate under this energy mass equation. He can create as he pleases.
