1 | No Fruit? | John 15:8 | humbledbyhisgrace | 205386
John 15:8 (NASB) "My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples." The desire is to bear much fruit! The question is, if we find ourselves in a place where not much fruit or perhaps no fruit is being produced that perhaps it is God's way of telling us to move on? Steve |

Steve- generally speaking this might be the case. Deeper consideration of why there is little or no fruit would require evaluating our own obedience and participation. By "move on" do you mean physically leave on place and arrive at another or are you referring to moving out of one activity (such as a particular ministry) and beginning something new? Of course, there might be the case where both are true. When things appear to be idle it may be time to move on. Then again, it may be time to exercise patient's while we wait for God's direction. Sometimes I believe the fruit might not even be obvious or even discernable to us. Just my thoughts on your thoughts. Jeff |

Jeff, "Deeper consideration of why there is little or no fruit would require evaluating our own obedience and participation. " I agree. But considering the measure, in all my walk I have always found myself to fall short. This is part of the struggle! Yes, move on can be either or both :-) Steve |

I agree Steve. I believe that this will always be the case. We, like Paul for example, will always fall short on some level. My point was more to the issue of some not recognizing their falling short for what it is and mistake it for God not working. Jeff |

5 | No Fruit? | John 15:8 | Val | 205463
Jeff, I agree. For me, I am thinking about the testings to prove us. I am not suppose to run out of a trial but to bear up under it. (Book of James) On the other hand, God does move us physically out of one area or ministry into another. This is the frustrating part for me sometimes or most of the time, being sensitive to His leading. It gets confusing sometimes. Back in Paul's day, they literally ran him out of town by trying to kill him. He would stay in a place maybe one to three years and move on for different reasons. In my area, pastors want a church and want to stay for 30 years and will do everything in their power to stay. Of course I know you can't answer it but I will ask anyway. Do you think that is what God wants? |

6 | No Fruit? | John 15:8 | lionheart | 205467
Val, Dear sis I think what makes it hard for us is that we take our focus off the mission (Matt 28:18-20) and that's to make disciples. This is for all of us. That is that we're bringing people to Christ. Whether it be from the pulpit or what ever other means God will make available to us. What we need to ask ourselves is do we have the heart to go wherever, do whatever to win folks over to Christ. Dear heart God just wants us to be about our purpose. In Him, lionheart |

I agree. Your note reminds me of the verse that says one plants, one waters but Christ gives the increase. 1 Cor 3:5 What then is Apollos? And what is Paul? Servants through whom you believed, even as the Lord gave opportunity to each one. 1 Cor 3:6 I planted, Apollos watered, but God was causing the growth. 1 Cor 3:7 So then neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but God who causes the growth. 1 Cor 3:8 Now he who plants and he who waters are one; but each will receive his own reward according to his own labor. Blessings, Val |
