1 | Born into the Kingdom of God? | Luke 16:18 | Ken hepting | 92475
"The Old man is done away with and I am now concerned with the New Man, the things of God? I'm thinking that all this is a RESULT of Salvation. Is there a Real Issue of why Jesus came to earth, other then to save people, or did I miss your point somewhere??" Who said the old man is done away with? Where do you read that? If that were so then there would be no reason to "work out your own salvation with fear and trembling", after you're saved. Isn't that what Paul exhorts us to do? Then why the need if the old man is dead? Why the need to purify the soul if there isn't more to being a Christian than just being saved and believing [wrongly] the old man to be dead? Read 1 Peter chapter 1 in light of Heb 5.8. If Jesus is the first of the first fruits are we not expected of the Lord to be sons and if sons then to expect to suffer as Jesus [the man] suffered; to be tested as He was tested? John 15:2 (NASB) "Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, HE TAKES AWAY; and every branch that bears fruit, HE PRUNES IT, that it may bear more fruit. This is why we must bring our Old man into obedience with the dictates of the NEW man we are, in Christ. That's not an automatic. Success in this is a result of our success with living the Great Commandment. What is Spiritual warfare all about if it isn't about conquering the biggest enemy we have, our selfish old natures? We all have to expect to have our own personal wilderness experiences where our allegiances are revealed. If Jesus had His, why not us also? What would have happened if He had failed? What will happen if we fail? ----------------------------- Your post is excellent inquiry. I've searched this thing out for years and am now able to see the conclusion to the matter. i.e., Once we are born again we MUST LEARN how to embrace [with all our emotions] the Great Commandent by prayer and the study of the word that reveals God's ultimate intention for those who love Him followed by our resoluteness in seeking the Kingdom of God. In all this is the power 'to become' given us because of the Spirit of the law of life working in us. [Rom.8.2] He shows the things of Christ that we appropiate them for ourselves. They are ours! It's His PROMISE to us that we, who seek with our whole heart to love Him, become like Him. That IS Father's 'ultimate intention'. There's much scripture to support all of this. In fact, the whole NT supports this. |

Ken, Sorry about 'the old man being done away with' bit, a bad choice of words to get my point across. To be honest with you my brother, you're over my head like a 747 bound for the Promise Land. I'm still back a square one wondering if Jesus had a secondary primary reason for caming to earth other than to save people. I've listened to what you've said, and for the most part, everything you've elaborated on takes place as a result of salvation, it takes place after the person is saved. I've searched this thing out for years and am now able to see the conclusion to the matter. i.e., Once we are born again... The perfect example, the conclusion to the matter takes place after salvation. Thus far you're leaving me to draw the conclusion that there is secondary primary reason why Jesus came to earth other to save people, and this reason takes place after salvation. So inorder to find out what this reason is we must first become saved, which is why Jesus came here in the first place. Ken, I really need you to tell me I'm wrong on this thing. The CurtMan |

3 | Born into the Kingdom of God? | Luke 16:18 | Ken hepting | 92641
Before Jesus was born the world was filled with people residing in many places. They were a mixture of the wicked and the righteous, as best they could be who showed they were by they're good deeds, who all died. Even during His lifetime and afterwards, this was and is the case even today. My question for you is: Does the salvation Jesus provides extend to any of them?
4 | Born into the Kingdom of God? | Luke 16:18 | TheCurtMan | 92727
I believe that the salvation that was provided by Jesus is made available to EVERYONE. Past, Present, Future, Believer, Non-believer. I believe that salvation is conditional, it will be excepted by some and rejected by others. But salvation is made available to everyone.
5 | Born into the Kingdom of God? | Luke 16:18 | Ken hepting | 92731
Very true, indeed. Now what should happen AFTER one, living in the age of the Holy Spirit made available, believes for his salvation? In oher words, what must one do to be a follower of Christ to become a son in His likeness? Should 'being saved', in your estimation, mean more than 'being redeemed'? What's the diiference that should be recognized? Hint: Luke 17:17 (NASB) And Jesus answered and said, "Were there not ten cleansed? But the nine-- where are they? |

Do you think that maybe you could explain simply and clearly the difference between being saved, and being redeemed?? And explain it to me as if I was a seven yr. old. I looked at Luke 17:17. What I see is ten men who was cleansed of a physical affliction. Out of that ten, one was cleansed spiritually. The other nine probably had places to go; people to see; and things to do. Glorifing God just was not on their agenda at that time. |
