Romans says differently. No, Romans doesn't say differently. You are making it say what it doesn't say. |

3 | Born into the Kingdom of God? | Luke 16:18 | Ken hepting | 92828
"Then a large body of Biblical scholars also has it wrong. But let's assume I am wrong. What does Romans teach concerning this? That's entirely possible. As I already stated, Paul is speaking about the depravity of humanity IN GENERAL. If you will investigate you will see he used the conditions that existed at the time of Noah by speaking in the past tense when describing things as they WERE right up the flood. Just read vs 1-31. All past tense speaking. |

4 | Born into the Kingdom of God? | Luke 16:18 | srbaegon | 92832
Hello Ken, I agree that Paul is speaking of the depravity of humanity. I cannot agree that they are general statements. When words like "none" and "not one" and "no" are used, it seems all-encompassing. Nobody is left out. Besides even verse 9 tells us that all are under sin. Romans 3:9 (ESV) What then? Are we Jews any better off? No, not at all. For we have already charged that all, both Jews and Greeks, are under the power of sin, I'm not sure where you're going with the conditions at Noah's time. Could you explain? Steve |

5 | Born into the Kingdom of God? | Luke 16:18 | Ken hepting | 92839
"I'm not sure where you're going with the conditions at Noah's time. Could you explain?" Sure there could have as many as 32m people who died in the flood. All depraved according to Paul. I believe him for that as you. BUT..That didn't happen over night just as it isn't happening to our nation, overnight. In the watering down of Adams verbal recording of things from creation do you think it just possible that people began to view God differently as we are [in our liberalism] yet retain a awe of Him that guided their lives until even that was gone from them and the flood came? What I'm trying ask is do you not think with those who no longer knew of Adam's record in it's fullest yet retained and attitude of there being a God, living their life accordingly, that God would still receive them after their death into paradise along with Lazarus. |

6 | Born into the Kingdom of God? | Luke 16:18 | srbaegon | 92849
Hello Ken, I wouldn't be bold enough to say that the verbal recording was watered down. The reason I don't think there were more unrecorded lives that were in awe of God, is that by the time of Noah, the whole of humanity was called wicked (Gen 6:5) so that only Noah and his family was saved. Also, I would have expected a few more mentioned, besides Enoch, having walked with God. Steve |

7 | Born into the Kingdom of God? | Luke 16:18 | Ken hepting | 92854
so why not assume it? You've assumed a lot of other stuff. So what happened to those halfway between Adam and Noah who still had a retention of God in their lives? The Bible doesn't say, does it? And that does'nt give us the right to assume otherwise, right? So when Paul speaks, as he does in Romans 1, is he taking all those in between into account or is he just speaking of those at Noahs ark time? I think the latter. I think you need another look at God's Grace. |

8 | Born into the Kingdom of God? | Luke 16:18 | srbaegon | 92860
Hello Ken, I'm assuming too much? :-) You are assuming there was anyone besides Enoch who "still had a retention of God." You are building a theology from silence. I cannot continue if you refuse to adhere to the Scriptures. Steve |
