1 | Born into the Kingdom of God? | Luke 16:18 | srbaegon | 92733
Hello Ken, Yes, it IS too bad they never heard the gospel. I didn't rip the verses from their moorings. Paul did. But to answer your questions: Who was Paul quoting? Psalm 14:1-3; 53:1-3; Psalm 5:9; Psalm 140:3; Psalm 10:7; Isaiah 59:7f; Psalm 36:1. When was it written? At various times through Israel's history. Steve |

"I didn't rip the verses from their moorings. Paul did." No, Paul didn't, You did. You have misapplied what Paul was speaking of to mean something he wasn't saying. He was speaking of the general condition of all mankind. There have always been those within that 'mankind' who lived with consciences directed toward God, who believed He was. Why don't you consider Abraham and maybe Noah.....Just for starters. |

3 | Born into the Kingdom of God? | Luke 16:18 | srbaegon | 92749
Hello Ken, OK, let's look at Abraham and Noah. When did they demonstrate faith? After God's direct revelation of Himself, not before that and not through creation. Steve |

4 | Born into the Kingdom of God? | Luke 16:18 | Ken hepting | 92751
"After God's direct revelation of Himself, not before that and not through creation" No way for Noah. He just believed and lived righteously. Should I repeat that? Abraham went out under the stars and made a determination. God heard him. Now what else did God do before Abe believed?..Zippo. |

5 | Born into the Kingdom of God? | Luke 16:18 | srbaegon | 92760
Hello Ken, OK let's look at Scripture. When do we first hear about Noah? Genesis 6:8 (ESV) But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord. That's it. Nothing about Noah being someone special or God-fearing. Rather it was God's choosing of Noah that was the determining factor. Hebrews 11:7 (ESV) By faith Noah, being warned by God concerning events as yet unseen, in reverent fear constructed an ark for the saving of his household. By this he condemned the world and became an heir of the righteousness that comes by faith. What about Abraham? You go to Genesis 15. You need to start sooner. Genesis 12:1-4 (ESV) Now the Lord said to Abram, "Go from your country and your kindred and your father's house to the land that I will show you. [2] And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. [3] I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed." [4] So Abram went, as the Lord had told him, and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran. Again there's nothing special about Abraham. Just God's choosing. And what did he do? Hebrews 11:8 (ESV) By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. God first, then the response. Steve |

Why did He choose these two guys?
7 | Born into the Kingdom of God? | Luke 16:18 | srbaegon | 92829
Hello Ken, That's an excellent question. I don't know the specific reasons God chose these two. What I do know is that all who God chooses are chosen according to God's purposes and mercy, not because of anything which might merit a reason. Ephes. 1:11 (ESV) In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will, Titus 3:5 (ESV) he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, Steve |

What did God say about KNOWING Jeremiah? and when He knew him. Do you believe God made him a robot or anybody robotic for that matter. Of course you don't believe that. So there must have been something about Jeremiah, something of himself, That God saw that God could bless Jeremiah when He saw it.. I believe God will do that with anyone who can say "I believe God is..THEREFORE, I will live life with Him in as my conscience." I believe God hears that in a person and honors it. I believe God knows before the birth of the one, who will and who will, not say it. Jesus says, "Go and make Disciples of the ones who will receive me as the one they long for". [paraphrase, mine] "Blessed are those that mourn...for they shall be comforted"......by those sent. |

9 | Born into the Kingdom of God? | Luke 16:18 | srbaegon | 92843
Hello Ken, Jeremiah was known by God before the womb (Jer 1:5). And you are correct that I don't believe anyone was made robotic. But you cannot conclude there was something about Noah, Abraham, Jeremiah, you, me, etc. that was good or special or something which would cause God to pick us out. If there is, please show me the Scripture that states this. Steve |

Show me where, in the foreknowledge of God, that isn't/can't be, the case.
11 | Born into the Kingdom of God? | Luke 16:18 | srbaegon | 92861
Hello Ken, I asked for Scripture to prove your case. You can't so you ask for Scripture to prove mine which I've adequately done. The conclusion is obvious--you have no case and refuse to admit it. I will no longer continue. Steve |
