Hello, Candy Lee - You have a sweet name :-) Please allow an old man to indulge in the pleasure of reminiscence about memorizing Scripture. A long time ago when I was a young boy it was my good fortune --though I did not view it so at the time -- to have had two or three Sunday school teachers who were high on memorizing Scripture. They put the names of the students on a big poster on the wall of the classroom and affixed a gold star beside the names of those who learned by heart the "golden text" each week. It grew to be quite a thing to be sought after to earn another gold star each week. As a consequence, my mind being young and my memory retentive, in course of time I managed to "hide in my heart" (Ps. 119:11) a surprisingly large number of scriptural passages. Even though I, at the time, had at best a pale understanding of most of them, these passages have stuck in my mind all these years, and as I have matured spiritually my understanding of them has deepened; thus, I have benefited enormously from this arduous work of memorization that I undertook long ago chiefly to earn gold stars. The gold stars have passed away but His word hidden in my heart will never pass away. I suspect that if one set for himself the criterion that a passage of Scripture must be thoroughly understood before being memorized, he wouldn't memorize much of Scripture. --Hank

My maternal Grandmother named me. She said that I was the sweetest little thing she had ever seen. My paternal Grandmother was quite the oppisite and said I had a devil in me. I was to be baptised and on that very day she said in the presence of many of my extended family that she hoped that it would wash the devil out of me. She picked on me quite strongly. I gave back just as good as she could dish it out. I am quite familiar with being teased for a vast number of reasons including my beliefs on the Bible. I was affraid of Sunday school. I believed at a young age the the sabbath was and is the seventh day. We were sat down in front of us on a wall was a man holding a lamb and I hated that picture! I hated all pictures of the so called Christ. I loved Christ, I hated the pictures. I didn't know why till I was in my thirties and found scriptures about having eyes but can't see, mouth but can't speak, nose but no breath as we being made in the image of God then to whom do we liken Him to? I was eventually lead to the Adventist church by my first husbands Grandmother, and have held to the church ever since. See the note I wrote to Makarios tonight for more info on me. I'm new to this site and I'm still learning how to use it. I want to share what I know with everyone. Something most people don't know is the Adventist teachings on the Beast of Rev. The site I gave is amazing facts.org and not Ripley's Believe It Or Not, but that is a honest discription. What if we are right? Look at the people who will be lost because of the beast. Just check it out or read the book "The Great Controsversy" by Ellen G White. It is about the controversy between Christ and Satan. Even if you don't believe it you will at laest know what your brothers and sisters in the Adventist church believe. It will help you when discussing various subjects. As for Ps 119 , it is my favorite and I want it read at my death. No time soon though. I haven't finished the work my Father in Heaven gave me to do. Your sister in Christ, Candy Lee

Hi Candy Lee, Why don’t you put that in your personal profile so it will be there for people to see? When you scroll down on any group of postings, it lists the authors of the posts and is under the heading of View Branch. If you click the person’s name it will bring up the profile of that particular person so you can get an idea of just who it is you are posting with and usually some of their testimony. I hope this helps, it sure makes it easer when you know where someone stands, CDBJ |
