Bible Note: Candy Lee, Don't worry about offending me. I know what Adventists teach and believe about Catholics and the pope and I knew by the content of your third post that you were Adventist. I have been familiar with the literature for more than thirty years. I do not find much merit in it. I certainly do not recognize the Catholic Church I know in it. I too have done some study of the early Church. I was educated by Jesuits for four year in High School. It was more challenging than college, which was easier, less challenging and of a lower quality by comparison. As a group the Jesuits who taught me were the best teachers I ever had. Since you asked,if you would like to read a book by a Catholic author that addresses most of the concerns you have expressed about the Catholic Church, I would recommend Catholicism and Fundamentalism by Karl Keating. You can order it at Amazon.com. If you wish to read my previous posts on papal authority go to the Quick Search box on the upper right side of the screen and enter these numbers: 27130, 27231, 27496, 27507. Please give this some thought: If the pope is the Beast of Revelation, then the Beast must represent an office, not an individual, since there have been several hundred popes. And if the pope is the beast, the Anti-Christ must logically also be an office and not an individual. Of course there are those that say the pope is the Anti-Christ, but I will let the two conflicting parties on that issue work out the diferences between them on their own. Emmaus |
