I fully agree that to just add scripture to memory without understanding is really of no benifit. I don't feel a need to defend ant part of the Bible because it can stand on it's own. I do believe that before you open your Bible that you should pray for guidence by the Holy Spirit and ask for your eyes to be opened that you may recieve understanding.I also believe what is said in Is. and in Jn that if they don't speak acording to the word it is because there is no light in them. Also in Jn it says if they say they know Christ and they don't keep his commandments that they are a lier and the truth is not in them. Not everyone is perfect. If I am in error I want someone to gently show me the error and help to guide me to full understanding. When we speak harshly we drive others away from the truth. If I am in error then pray for me brother that I will know the truth and allow the Spirit to move on me to open my eyes. You sound like a harsh parent barking at a child. I know that I am a child in the eyes of God. Who knows all? Does any man? So I say to you let us pray one for another. I already know there is mush knowledge in you. Just let us both give messages with a little love and patience for eachother. If I have offended you I ask your forgiveness. There is nothing wrong with disagreeing with one another. I know that there is nothing in the Bible about the Maccabees, and I know that Greece was one of the world powers. I think that there is some history in these books that may help in my study. Is this where the Pharasees and Saducees come from? Can you help me with the study of the war of the Maccabees? Your sister in Christ, CL

Greetings Candy Lee.. I apologize. I did not mean to sound like "a harsh parent barking at a child." If that is how my posts come across at times, then I do apologize. People around me and who know me personally basically describe me as someone who is "easy going" and who does not show very many outward signs of emotional stress. I'm a person who likes to reason things out to a logical conclusion, and I believe that my posts reflect that. I have a gift for studying God's Word! I am firmly convinced of that which has been confirmed time and time again. But even though I have been gifted in this way, I can still be proven wrong, and I am not "totally correct" or "perfect" in any way, since I am only a student of God's Word, and will always be just that. You need not ask me for any forgiveness on your part. As for the Maccabees, do you have a copy of the Apocryphal/Deuterocanonical Books available to you? There are actually 4 separate books of "Maccabees" in the Apocrypha that may greatly assist you in what you are looking for. Blessings to you, Makarios |

My church does't teach from the Apocrypha. I have never even heard mention of it in church. I like to read other info from other sources and other churches. I was raised in the Baptist church but at a very young age I felt that their teachings were wrong. I knew in my heart that the seventh day was the sabbath and I gave my mom such a problem that she quit taking me to church. I was somewhere about seven or eight years old. I tried again to go to church with a friend for awhile when I was a young teen ,but I had that same feeling. I tried other churches, but it never felt right. I gave up on finding a church. I prayed alot about wanting to know the truth. I married a man who was raised in the Adventist church. His grandmother talked to me ,but she was harsh and condeming of me. One night she said something to me about the sabbath and that was what I had been looking for. We started to study together and the more we studied the closer I got to Christ. I was impressed STRONGLY that this was where I was suspose to be. That is another story. In short if you ask God for a sign don't ask for it to hit you in the face,OUCH! I have never asked for any more a sign. Emmaus gave me a web site with the first and second books of Maccabees. I also study history of the different churches. I want to learn as much as I can and to walk in the light the I recieve. I know that different churches teach different things and I accept this. I can only show what my understanding is. I am not infallable. I have been wrong. You responded so fast that I felt you didn't try to see what I was saying. Also typing is not my strong suit. There is an Adventist site that explains much of the Adventist beliefs. We also teach who the beast of Rev is. We believe as it is written that the man of sin, the son of perdition must be revieled. We teach that it is a religous figure which is the Pope. I know you think I am a few cookies short of a dozen, but what if we are right? We don't dislike the catholic people, in fact we are to love all Gods children. If you want to know more you can go to the web site amazing facts.org of try reading the book by Ellen G. White " The Great Controversy". Oh, where can I get a copy of the Apocrypha? The local Bible book store here doesn't have it. Thanks bunches! Your sister in Christ, Candy Lee
