As I said before, there can be more that one meening in a lesson. Could be I'm seeing something different from you .I do want to thank you for your time and effort. It shows you care. There is something you may help me with. I'm looking to learn about the war of the Maccabees. My church does't teach it. I'm having trouble finding info on it. I found some on a site of the churh of the Nazarene and some on a Wesleyn site . Sorry for any miss spellings. Thanks your sister in Christ CL | ||||||

Candy Lee, I could post every verse that you cite, and we could see if there is any "connection", just by looking at the verses. That would prove my point. As far as this Forum is concerned, there is no such thing as "feel" or "seeing something different." When we interpret a passage from the Bible, we must always ask ourselves, "Am I adding meaning to a verse that is not already there?" You see, that is what you need to guard yourself against. We need to formulate doctrine FROM the study of Scripture, and there is no other direction than that, if meaningful Bible Study is intended. What is Bible Study? To answer this question, let's begin with what Bible study is not. Bible study is not Bible memorization or Bible reading alone, though these exercises are beneficial in their own right and find a place in Scripture study. Neither is Bible study carrying, quoting, believing, or defending the Bible. Surprisingly, Bible study is not even a line-by-line comment or a verse-by-verse "sharing" on the Bible, whether done by a pastor or teacher, by a group, or by a solitary saint. Bible study is the regular, careful, systematic examination of the Scriptures themselves, with an alert mind and a prayerful, open heart, and with the intent to understand and live God's Word. There is no exception to meaningful Bible Study. Blessings to you, Makarios |

Makarios I agreee with you except you left out the Holy Spirit. You can do all those without the Holy Spirit you will not be guided in Truth. John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. In Christ, Darcy |

Greetings Darcy, You are correct, the Holy Spirit also has His place in Bible Study. But looking back on my correspondence with Candy Lee, we both mentioned the Holy Spirit already in our prior posts.. :-) Blessings to you, Makarios |
