1 | As Christians what is our role in war | Matt 5:44 | lionheart | 192636
Jon, May I recommend that you do a word study on the words kill and killing. War should be abhorrent to all. It definitely wouldn't be at the top of my list of choices. When one is referring to kill are they referring to murder? Murder is killing but not all killing is tantamount to murder. Do the word study. I dont know how many times over the years I've had people tell me I couln't be a Christian and be in the military. Ya know I got tired of it. Being in the military never had anything to do with wheather I was a Christian or not. Explain to us men of God such as David, The bible tells us David was man after Gods own heart. A military man hmmm... Many men and women Cristian and non christian alike have sacrificed thier lives so that you and I can enjoy the freedoms God has so richly granted us. In Him, lionheart |

2 | As Christians what is our role in war | Matt 5:44 | JohnDiscipleship | 192651
I want to make a sincere apology to anyone who is offended by my question about a Christians role in war. I find it hard to read the old testament with all the killing that takes place compared to the new testament teachings. Would I defend my family if they were attacked? I probably would. I believe that the armed forces should be more defensive than aggressive but that is a personal view. You can be a Christian anywhere and the law you have to follow is God's law as you understand it. My quest is to understand the way to live in this world in such a way that I obey what Jesus said in Matt 28v19-20. God bless John D |

John D, What do you do with the Final War that is in Revelation? I believe all will fight on one side or another? He said, "Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword" (Matt 10:34). S |
