1 | How do I meditate? Cross Ref Ps 4:4 | Matt 5:22 | formereverything | 120943 | ||
"when you lay in bed search your thoughts and remove all negative feelings: all angry thought that would cloud your mind and build up an evil foundation in your heart" How do I do this? I used to use buddhist meditation. I doubt that would be correct for me now. Is there a Christian way to "meditate"? |

Hi, formereverything! I have an excellent Psalm for you: Happy the man who never follows the advise of the wicked, or loiters on the way that sinners take, or sits about with scoffers, but finds his pleasure in the law of Yahweh, and murmurs his law day and night. He is like a tree that is planted by water streams, hielding its fruit in season, its leaves never fading; success attends all he does. It is nothing like this with the wicked, nothing like this! No, these are like chuff blown away by the wind. The wicked will not stand firm when Judgment comes, nor sinners when the virtuous assemble. For Yahweh takes care of the way the virtuous go, but the way of the wicked is doomed. Psalm 1 This Psalm has all the basic "meat and potatoes!" It begins by describing those in fellowship with God and those who are rebelious to God. Happy is the man who serves God. That cannot be said of the wicked who are forever scheming, robbing, destroying, murdering... The believer is like a tree planted in fertile grounds near a water base who has the Lord, God Almighty, as his caretaker. Not so for the wicked whose behavior and paths are loathsome to God. The believers have a double life: a physical, here and now, existence and a spiritual, with the Lord, existence--this hidden Life is found in Jesus... the wicked, by their behavior, have rejected God and, consequently, the hiden Life in Christ! When you read the Scriptures you will find that the above theme is reapeted all through the Bible. Meditating is made easy because we have so much material to work with... Just take the suffering servant of Isaiah 52:13 through 53:12 or Jesus promise of the Holy Spirit in John 14 through 16 or God coming to us in a body made of flesh and blood as our own: John 1:1-18 or Faith in God as in Hebrews 11. God Bless! Angel |
