Hi, Ed... No, I did not speak to the means by which Fee arrived at his position on church plurality. I have no idea. To my understanding ordinations are not granted for those holding positions deviant from the body doing and sustaining the ordination. If that practice is not the case in the AOG, you would no better than I. My intention was to be complimentary of Fee for being consistent with his denomination. At least, I see it as virtuous. Regarding those who read his book but have not "learned to open themselves to the truth found in scripture" (sic): Let us pray for them, that God will do that work in them through the Word. As Gordon Fee wrote elsewhere, the goal of our bible study is not heads filled with knowledge, but changed lives through the work of the Spirit through the Word of God. In Him, Doc |

While I agree we don't know how Fee came to his conclusions, I do agree we must not allow denominational doctrine to blind us to the truth of scripture. My intention was to be complimentary of Fee for being consistent with his understanding of scripture and I that is a virtue. Yes by all means I agree we all should be in prayer for those that read scripture and apply a twisted or misunderstanding to the truth scripture contains. |
