1 | How Holy Is Marriage? | Matt 16:6 | humility | 213370
We know that same-sex marriage is a sin, but why is'nt it a sin to marry non-christians? If it's not right for two men or two women to be married, why all of a sudden, is it right to marry two thieves or two murderers? Sin is sin, and marriage is only supposed to be for "Holy people", that's why we call it Holy Matrimony right

humility: The assmption you make that same sex marriage is sin, how did you come to this conclusion? I sure hope you came to this undersatnding form the Bible. For my sake we will assume you believe the Bible says same sex, sexual contact of any kind is sin. 2 Corinthians 6:14 says we are not to be yoked with unbelievers. 1 Corinthians 6:12 to 20 and all of 1 Corinthians 7 deals with the questions you ask. Hebrews 13:4 has serious warnings for recreational sex outside of marriage. Romans 1 tells exactally how God allows those who refuse to acknowledge God,to fall into such twisted sexual lives. To bring into focus how messed up Christians have become in adopting the worlds standards, more than 40 percent of Christians have been involved sexually before marriage. Sex is very powerful, and many think they can resist temptation. Often the spirit is willing to follow God, but the flesh is weak. Only with determination and strength from God can Christians remain pure before, and durring marriage. The problem for sexual purity is not just for those getting married. As we have seen year after year there are those who are highly visable in ministry who have broken their marriage vows and became a public shame for Christ. Satan knows sex is a very powerful way to trap Christians. We need to be on constant alert to keep our lives pure. Just look at the TV programs we watch, the movies we buy, the places we go. Recently I started to watch an old "Mash" VCR I had on the shelf from long time ago. After less than 5 minuets I took the tape out and got the 3 other VCR's of "MASH" on the shelf, and put them in the trash. I could see how God has so tenderized my heart. Growth takes time and a willingness to surrender our lives to Christ day by day. Holy Matrimony is constant renewing of our love for our spouse day by day. Blessings. justme |

It's amazing how one question can generate other questions. Why is one homosexual? Regarding Mt 6:16; Have some contemporary Christians become Sadducees or Pharisees? Sin is sin for sure, homosexuality is worn on ones' sleeve. What about the sin in ones' mind that can't be seen or the sins performed in secret places kept from the view of others? Is anyone sin free? What sin is unforgivable? Regarding 2Cor 6:14 and 1Cor 10:21; My son (42) is Homosexual and has been with his partner for 24 years. My grandson (17) most likely will be. Neither are so because of "lust" or reasons of the "flesh". I have witnessed their suffering. Does/can the spirit dwell in a sinner? Ro 8:9 "You however, are controlled not by sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ." For anyone who has judged and cannot have “brotherly” close relationship with a homosexual consider this: My children did not ask for their “affliction” as I did not ask for mine (bi-polar depression) nor did by friend ask for diabetes. Sadly, there are no medications for homosexuality. Perhaps that’s why the term “gay” was invented? Do we treat these people as the lepers were treated? Thank you keliy for your sound answer, and for your willingness to answer humility’s question. Respectfully, robert |

always learning:I hear the pain in your note. Robert, all sin is forgiven the same way. In 1 John 1:10 says no one is free of sin. You have a burden that is heavy, especially when you are loving your son, and concerned for your grandson. There is enviormental, and other factors the seem to draw men and women into that gay lifestyle. Often the parents are blamed when that's not true. There is great pain for parents of children that have such problems. None the less, I believe all sexual contact with others outside of marraige is sin. Romans chapter 1 is very specfic. I must either agree with Scripture or believe that the Bible has huge errors. I believe what the Bible says. Are there Christians who take a long time to brake free of the sins they have become intwined in? Oh yes, dear friend there are. The thing that is most important is there a effort to keep confessing the sin and seeking Gods strength to become free of the sin. Robert, it is not just homosexuality. There is greed, anger, nasty language, drunkeness, the list is very long. All sin is done by choice. Sin starts with our thoughts, and comes forth from hardness of heart. As parents most likely we do see sin in our childrens lives, it hurts us. But calling sin something other than what it is does not change what Scripture says about a sin. Just as adultery, fornication, and homosexuality are sexual sins, there is coming a time we will stand and answer for our lives. Blessings. justme |

Thank you just me; your insights run deep and I accept your compassion. I hope you understand that my pain isn’t rooted in or for my children. They are fine people. My pain is rooted in the behavior of and for Christians. “Let he that have no sin throw the first stone.” You are so correct that our lives and lifestyles are a choice. So I say these words in gentleness and with respect to your choices because we, a chosen people depend on the divine word of God Almighty through the renewing of our mind and our ability to engage His spirit in our inner being. Ro 7:22 I must mention that it is through the glorious riches of His kindness, tolerance and patience that we have been redeemed through His blood, the forgiveness of our sins in accordance with the riches of His grace. Eph 1:7 Tit 3:4 when to kindness and love of God our savior appeared … Ro 2:4 Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, tolerance and patience not realizing that God’s kindness leads you toward repentance? Col 2:2 My purpose is that they (any sinner) might be encouraged in heart and united in love, of (God) so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they know the mystery of God namely Christ, ... of his kindness, tolerance and patience, Eph 2:7 in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace… Ro 8:9 You however, are controlled not by sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. Eph 3:16 I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen YOU with power through his Spirit in your inner being, Eph 1:18 I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called YOU, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, Col 1:26, 27 the mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the saints. To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is CHRIST IN YOU, the hope of glory. 1Ti 3:16 Beyond all question the mystery of godliness is great: He appeared in a body, was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was preached among the nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in glory. Job 11:7 Can you fathom the mysteries of God? Can you probe the limits of the Almighty? Ps 139:6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, to lofty for me to attain. Job 5:9 He performs wonders that cannot be fathomed, miracles that cannot be counted. Eph 3:8 Although I am less than the least of all God’s people, this grace was given me: to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ ... and of his kindness because Christ came to us and did not teach us law. The law is not the good news. For me and mine, we will embrace and have close relation with the sinner and be the face of Christ and bear the fruit of our labors even to the rebuke of earthly saints. So, I submit my unanswered question again. Have contemporary Christians become Sadducees and Pharisees? And I add these; Was it not the law of the the Jew and the law of Rome that murdered our Lord? Was it the law that brought you to the Lord? Yes, I did say affliction and if any one thinks I speak something untrue, please take care that you are not judged as you judge. Thank you for this opportunity to share with you. I will remove myself from this forum as you saints cause my heart to grieve. And, it is not you who I am called to serve. 2Pe 1:10 Respectfully, Robert, who is always learning |

Hi, Robert... Scripture must be rightly interpreted in context. Every word has a context of a sentence, every sentence the context of a passage, every passage the context of a book, etc. You asked, "Have contemporary Christians become Sadducees and Pharisees?" It would be difficult to speak of all Christians in a sweeping condemnation like this. We could probably generalize in specific groups, at least to one degree or another. I'm uncertain that I could suitably generalize the Christians of the 11th century let alone the 21st. In my own Baptist tradition we pretty much cover the spectrum of libertinism to legalism. The faults of the Sadducee and the Pharisee exist in my own heart. I'm unsure why'd you'd want to paint all "contemporary Christians" with such a broad brush. You asked, "Was it not the law of the the Jew and the law of Rome that murdered our Lord?" Neither. It was the pleasure of God the Father to kill Jesus, for His glory and our redemption (Isaiah 53:10; John 6:38; 10:17-18; Hebrews 10:7-10). It was the key component of God's eternal purpose (Acts 2:23). The means by which He accomplished it was by men, but only through the explicit authority of the Father (John 19:10-11). You asked, "Was it the law that brought you to the Lord?" That's like asking, "Was it your car that brought you to work today?" "Whosoever truly understandeth the division of the places of the Law and of the Gospel, gathered out of the holy scriptures, cannot by any man's doctrine be seduced from the truth, or read the scriptures but to edify both himself and others: whereas he that is ignorant of the same cannot, though he were a great doctor of divinity, and could rehearse every text of the bible without book, but both be deceived, and deceive others; as the experience hereof (the more pity) hath taught, nay, seduced the whole world. Therefore, I say, take to thee the glass of God's law; look therein, and thou shalt see thy just damnation, and God's wrath for sin, which, if thou dreadest, will drive thee not only to an amendment, but also to a sorrow and hatred of thy wickedness, and even to the brim of despair, out of which nothing can bring thee but the glad tidings of Christ, that is, the gospel: for as God's word doth bind thee, so can nothing but God's word unbind thee; and until thou comest to this point, thou knowest nothing of Christ." --John Calvin (1548) You wrote, "Yes, I did say affliction and if any one thinks I speak something untrue, please take care that you are not judged as you judge." Young man, this is often the refuge of those who refuse to be taught (Proverbs 9:8). When we correct someone who has arrived at a sum of five in adding two and two, one is not "judging" the errant student. Our supreme authority is the Scripture itself (2 Timothy 3:16). Read that verse, please. You will see that reproof and correction are some of the valuable things that arise from the Word. (By the way, you might want to revisit Matthew 7:1 in the context of the full Sermon on the Mount. Remember, every text without a context is a pretext.) You wrote, "Thank you for this opportunity to share with you. I will remove myself from this forum as you saints cause my heart to grieve." That is unfortunate that you would remove yourself from correction. You cite 2 Peter 1:10 but ignore Ephesians 4:8-21. Rebuke is simply the application of the truth, which is one of the most loving things we can do for one another (Proverbs 27:6). The truth is rarely comfortable -- it often wounds deeply. Although you may absent yourself from some, and seek out those with whom you find greater compatibility, the truth won't be something you'll be able to resist forever. For your ultimate blessing -- and the blessing of those in your family -- those reading this post will be praying. We don't seek victory in our debate. We seek the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the washing of His bride in the sanctifying and cleansing Word. In Him, Doc |
