Bible Question: We know that same-sex marriage is a sin, but why is'nt it a sin to marry non-christians? If it's not right for two men or two women to be married, why all of a sudden, is it right to marry two thieves or two murderers? Sin is sin, and marriage is only supposed to be for "Holy people", that's why we call it Holy Matrimony right |
Bible Answer: humility: The assmption you make that same sex marriage is sin, how did you come to this conclusion? I sure hope you came to this undersatnding form the Bible. For my sake we will assume you believe the Bible says same sex, sexual contact of any kind is sin. 2 Corinthians 6:14 says we are not to be yoked with unbelievers. 1 Corinthians 6:12 to 20 and all of 1 Corinthians 7 deals with the questions you ask. Hebrews 13:4 has serious warnings for recreational sex outside of marriage. Romans 1 tells exactally how God allows those who refuse to acknowledge God,to fall into such twisted sexual lives. To bring into focus how messed up Christians have become in adopting the worlds standards, more than 40 percent of Christians have been involved sexually before marriage. Sex is very powerful, and many think they can resist temptation. Often the spirit is willing to follow God, but the flesh is weak. Only with determination and strength from God can Christians remain pure before, and durring marriage. The problem for sexual purity is not just for those getting married. As we have seen year after year there are those who are highly visable in ministry who have broken their marriage vows and became a public shame for Christ. Satan knows sex is a very powerful way to trap Christians. We need to be on constant alert to keep our lives pure. Just look at the TV programs we watch, the movies we buy, the places we go. Recently I started to watch an old "Mash" VCR I had on the shelf from long time ago. After less than 5 minuets I took the tape out and got the 3 other VCR's of "MASH" on the shelf, and put them in the trash. I could see how God has so tenderized my heart. Growth takes time and a willingness to surrender our lives to Christ day by day. Holy Matrimony is constant renewing of our love for our spouse day by day. Blessings. justme |
