1 | Get behind me, who? | Matt 16:23 | Aixen7z4 | 97585 | ||
O, Brother Makarios, You are the one with the maturity and knowledge of the Scriptures. You always bring a blessing with your posts. I did consider that a female who came into my office with a certain walk and talk and smile had been sent by Satan. I understand that he does those things, and recalling the story of Potiphar's wife with Joseph, I partly believe it. I have mentioned a brother who rebuked me for picking up children to take to church. I was stunned by that and also by other actions from him. The sum of it caused an entire little church to crumble. When I suggested later that Satan had been using him, he agreed. He confessed that he had yielded to the evil one and repented with bitter tears. The fact is, I had been warned that the brother had a history of causing problems in the churches. He seemed to have a weakness that the evil one exploited. Yes, I believe he had been sent to us by Satan. I believe that false apostles and false prophets are sent to us by Satan. I believe Scripture tells us (especially John in 1 John) how to recognize them. When someone lies to me or to the public, I think of John 8:44 and I say it was Satan who had sent him. What do you think? Concerning Peter's statement, do you not recall the story of Ananias and Sapphira? Act 5: A certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira, his wife, sold a possession, and kept back part of the price, his wife also being aware of it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles' feet. But Peter said, "Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart ... ... to lie to the Holy Spirit, and to keep back part of the price of the land?" I hope not to lose my reputation of being level-headed, but I believe that Satan is very active in this world. Whenever there is conflict involving Christians, I look for him. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. |

Greetings my friend! No, your reputation is intact! But I was a bit curious, since we don't have too many people ask if we have had encounters with people who might have possibly have been 'sent to us by Satan.' But I see what you mean. :-) The situations that you have described with the woman and with the brother in Christ which ended in the death of a church are grevious indeed, and the enemy was at work! I most certainly agree with your assessment of Acts 5 and Ananias and Sapphira, but I wanted to be sure of where you were coming from first. :-) John 8:44, Jude and 2 Peter are filled with references to those who are false teachers, which gives us all the more incentive to act as a Berean (Acts 17:11) to make sure that the message that we receive is from the Lord. I also agree that Satan is very active in this world, and we must be ready for his onslaught, being girded with the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:13-18). Yes, I have had many encounters in my life in which I do believe that I was actually facing down Satan himself, or possibly one being sent by him. I have attempted to witness to those who claim to be Satanists, a self-proclaimed witch, and others who most desperately need the saving grace of our Lord. I have also been put in a position where I was tempted by another man's wife, and the Lord protected me from sin in much the same way that He protected Joseph (Genesis 39:11-13). It was definitely Satan that was at work! But in every instance, these happenings occurred with those who did not believe in Christ. The Bible doesn't really say whether or not Ananias and Sapphira were 'true believers' in Christ. I do not believe that it is possible for a believer in Christ to be demon-possessed, or "sent by Satan." Blessings to you, Makarios |

I'm learning as I go on this topic. Ananias and Sapphira. It doesn't say that they were demon processed. What did satan fill their heart with? You also can't find any wheres in scripture where that phrase is used but that once. Jesus never said satan filled their hearts with a demon, out of all the demons He cast out. It also seems like Peter had no clue to the answer of that question. Peter knew a demon when he encountered them. My personal thoughts Like I said learning as I go. I think Satan filled their hearts with Greed. Their death is also a mystery. As in where they saved? And if not Why (yes a why question) Did God use them as an example. when the world will be judged later? The church also were frightened, why were they frightened if the couple were of the world? Now for the my view prior to you stating that they may not be Christians. God used them for an example. He also saved them from falling away by lieing to the Holy Spirit. He did the same with the people who were abusing the communion. That is my prior views. Now its on the maybe list of things. In Christ, Darcy |
