1 | Are "careless words" sin? | Matt 12:36 | Country Girl | 123813
Copied from your post: As I read this passage and consider the Judgment Seat of Christ (which is only for believers) I suspect that these careless words are anything apart from Christ at work in our lives. Did you actually mean to say that Judgment Day will be only for believers? What is your scriptural basis for such an unusal statement? I hope you didn't mean to say that; there's just too many scriptures to counter that position. For example Jesus' depiction of Judgment Day with the sheep and the goats in Matt 25. Please tell me this was just a typo on your part. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

2 | Are "careless words" sin? | Matt 12:36 | Mommapbs | 123839
Country Girl - God's Word speaks of two distinct "judgments", one for the believer and the other for the non-believer. Those who are in Christ are not "judged" but rather reviewed. See notes on 2 Cor 5:10 - believers are rewarded or recompensed, not "judged" as the non-believer and condemned. (The penalty for sin is death) Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life. John 5:24 - The believer will stand before the judgment seat of Christ (2 Cor 5:10) The nonbeliever will stand before the great white throne (Judgment Day) of Rev 20. I hope this clears things up for you! Blessings, mommapbs |

3 | Are "careless words" sin? | Matt 12:36 | Country Girl | 123895
I'm not certain exactly what Paul is the Corinthian letter but to me Jesus' Words are quite clear. I'm afraid I'll go with His words and assume there will be two groups at Judgment Day as mentioned earlier. Matt 25:31 "When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. 32All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. 33And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. 34Then the King will say to those on His right hand, "Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; 36I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.' 37"Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, "Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? 38When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? 39Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?' 40And the King will answer and say to them, "Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.' 41"Then He will also say to those on the left hand, "Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: 42for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; 43I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.' 44"Then they also will answer Him, saying, "Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?' 45Then He will answer them, saying, "Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.' 46And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life." I think there are far more scriptures depicting this view than the questionable scriptures you and Kalos are referring to. Blessings to you. Country Girl |

4 | Are "careless words" sin? | Matt 12:36 | Mommapbs | 123903
Please explain how you find the scriptures on the Judgment seat of Christ "questionable." The Judgement seat of Christ is for the church. It is my opinion that the passage you reference in Matthew takes place after the second coming of Christ. The church has already inherited eternal life. "The nations" are those who remain after the church has been removed. Yes, Christ will indeed separate the righteous and judge those who have rejected Him, but it is my opinion that the church is not a participant in this. Blessings, mommapbs |

5 | Are "careless words" sin? | Matt 12:36 | Country Girl | 123906
As I mentioned, Jesus' Words are very clear and it doesn't seem to describe anything like what you're saying. In contrast to that, I'd also submit Paul's words from Hebrews Heb 9:27 And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment, Heb 9:28 so Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time for salvation without reference to sin, to those who eagerly await Him. As I mentioned, when you take ALL the scriptures from the NT and put them together and draw a solid, consistent conclusion, I can only see the scene as clearly depicted by our Lord in Matt 25. I realize this goes counter with what you and several others believe but the Bible really should be read clearly and simply whenever possible as our Lord intended it. Of course there are exceptions like the figurative language in Revelation, Daniel and Ezekiel. Blessings to you. Country Girl |
