1 | Is Jesus "least" in kingdom of heaven? | Matt 11:11 | TommyS | 109769
Jesus declared that John the Babtist is the greatest AND He added "Yet the ONE who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he." (John the Baptist) Is Jesus saying that HE HIMSELF is the least in the kingdom of heaven, or is He speaking of some ONE else?
2 | Is Jesus "least" in kingdom of heaven? | Matt 11:11 | Makarios | 109772
Greetings TommyS, If we examine Matthew 11:11 closely, and within its own context, I believe that we can plainly see that John the Baptist is who Jesus is speaking of when He says, "Truly, I say to you, among those born of women there has arisen no one greater than John the Baptist. Yet the one who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he." [ESV] We know beyond any doubt that Jesus could certainly not be the one who is 'least' in the kingdom of heaven, since we have Scripture verses such as Hebrews 1:6,8-13 that describe the place given to Jesus Christ as being at the right hand of God the Father. 3 | Is Jesus "least" in kingdom of heaven? | Matt 11:11 | TommyS | 109780
Makarios, thank you responding so quickly. I'm sorry, if I seem dense - but You stated that you believe "that we can plainly see that John the Baptist is who Jesus is speaking of when He says, "Truly, I say to you, among those born of women there has arisen no one greater than John the Baptist. Yet the one who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he." [ESV] My question took that verse into complete consideration. Jesus IS speaking of John when He stated "there has arisen no one greater than John the Baptist". I agree. BUT, how could Jesus also mean John who is the LEAST in the kingdom - IF, among those born of women there has arisn NO ONE GREATER than John the Baptist? I recongize that there is NO other name under heaven whereby we must saved. And Jesus' name is abouve all other names. And His shed blood, death and resurrection is vital for our salvation. Do you understand what I am trying to ask? Is John the Baptist BOTH the greatest born of women, AND the least in the kingdom of heaven? TommyS |

4 | Is Jesus "least" in kingdom of heaven? | Matt 11:11 | Makarios | 109790
Greetings my friend, Yes, I know what you were trying to ask! :-) I understand that verse to mean that up to that point, John the Baptist was the one prophet who actually saw the Messiah; he was the one who actually saw the One who was promised, and was able to experience that which the ones before were not able to experience. In that way, John the Baptist was the greatest who was born of women. However, everyone who has put their faith in Jesus since the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ has a higher position in the kingdom of heaven then does John the Baptist, since John was only a friend of the bridegroom (John 3:29), and not part of the bride, which is the church (Ephesians 5:25-27,32). Blessings to you, Makarios |

Makarios, you are confirming our brother in Christ, Emmaus. When I read that verse it was like - hey, wait a minute. I appreciate your going the extra mile with your second response. Thank you. TommyS |

You are very welcome! It is good that Emmaus and I posted on the same topic so that you would get Biblical answers, but not always from the same angle, so to speak. :-) Blessings to you, Makarios |
