Bible Question: Jesus declared that John the Babtist is the greatest AND He added "Yet the ONE who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he." (John the Baptist) Is Jesus saying that HE HIMSELF is the least in the kingdom of heaven, or is He speaking of some ONE else? |
Bible Answer: Greetings TommyS, If we examine Matthew 11:11 closely, and within its own context, I believe that we can plainly see that John the Baptist is who Jesus is speaking of when He says, "Truly, I say to you, among those born of women there has arisen no one greater than John the Baptist. Yet the one who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he." [ESV] We know beyond any doubt that Jesus could certainly not be the one who is 'least' in the kingdom of heaven, since we have Scripture verses such as Hebrews 1:6,8-13 that describe the place given to Jesus Christ as being at the right hand of God the Father.
