1 | How does Israel represent all nations? | Matt 10:23 | EdB | 90774
Chusarcik I'm not sure where you got this idea that Jesus said go preach and I'll return before you get all the cities covered from this passage. In context Jesus was talking about persecution and the persecution the Apostles could expect to face in particular. He said he was persecuted and they could expect to also be persecuted. And when that happens Jesus told them to leave that city and go to the next. He assured them He would return before they ran out of cities. EdB |

2 | Thanks and sorry to pester you | Matt 10:23 | Chusarcik | 90822
EdB, I guess I'm just having trouble with the wording of the scripture? Your answers makes sense, but each time I go back and read 10:23 literally, it looks like Jesus was saying to the apostles they would face persecution, but that He, Jesus would return before the apostles reached all the cities in Israel. How do we get they wouldn't run out of cities from that statement? I appreciate all the work you're putting into your answers and am just trying to reach an understanding that matches what the verse says, Chusarcik |

3 | Thanks and sorry to pester you | Matt 10:23 | EdB | 90846
Chusarcik God told Abraham he is descendants would be as the grains of sand on the beach. We know in a couple cubic yards of sand there are millions of grains of sand when we look at even one small beach there has to be billions and billions of grains of sand yet there is only 6 billion people on earth presently and less than twice that number has ever lived on earth.. Did God lie? No he was using hyperbole saying Abraham you cannot even imagine the number of descendants. Jesus was doing the same thing here. He was saying your going to experience much persecution for my sake, but when you do go to the next city. Don’t despair I will be back before you run out of cities. EdB |
