NASB | Matthew 10:23 ¶ "But whenever they persecute you in one city, flee to the next; for truly I say to you, you will not finish going through the cities of Israel until the Son of Man comes. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Matthew 10:23 ¶ "When they persecute you in one city [because of your faith in Me], flee to the next; for I assure you and most solemnly say to you, you will not finish going through all the cities of Israel before the Son of Man comes. |
Bible Question: I will do that and does anyone have further comments answering what Jesus means in Matthew 10:23 where He says He'll return again before the apostles will have gone through all of the cities of Israel if we are to imply Jesus really meant all nations when He said all cities of Israel? Chusarcik |
Bible Answer: Chusarcik Read Matt 10;23 once more but read it as a figure of speech. Jesus is saying go preach the gospel if your persecuted go to the next city. I will return before you run out of cities. I think to imply Jesus was setting a definite time frame here is incorrect. I believe He was making the point they had a big job ahead of them and to therefore be busy about the Father's work. EdB |
