1 | Unclean food for the Christian? | Lev 1:1 | asken | 105986 | ||
To Kalos. Thank you Kalos for your reply to my question. I also note that you desire not to be drawn into a debate about what you believe and I honour that. You have come closest to answering my question. May i therefore seek further clarification? I too am not seeking to be justified in any way by law or legalism. I suppose the core of my question is - 'Why did God give rules to the Jews about not to eat e.g. pork or shellfish both of which are known to be unclean and contain parasites - but yet to the Christian it seems okay for them to eat? I (forgive the pun) don't want to make a meal of this but I ask 'Are we obeying God or disobeying God about such foods. Apart from been told not to call anything unclean that God has made clean I have not read anywhere where God has clearly and specifically rescinded his law about not eating unclean foods as in Leviticus. I seek only clarification and respect each believers understanding on this subject, I thank you for your patience and insight. |

Asken: You ask: "Why did God give rules to the Jews about not to eat e.g. pork or shellfish both of which are known to be unclean and contain parasites - but yet to the Christian it seems okay for them to eat?" I wonder what percentage of professing Christians has even read every word of the Torah. You write: "I have not read anywhere where God has clearly and specifically rescinded his law about not eating unclean foods as in Leviticus." I agree. I haven't read such a thing either. Peace, kalos |
