Bible Note: Levitical law was given in the book of Leviticus, expanded upon by the leaders of Judaism and evolved into the teachings of the Orthodox Judaism today. Non Levitical laws were in existence prior to the book of Leviticus and some were developed or taught even prior to Abraham. In any case the dietary laws were given to the Children of Israel to separate them from others around them. Gentiles while adopted into the family have no requirement to keep those laws again a fact clearly seen in Acts 15. Along with the Levitical dietary laws were given social or behavioral laws. If you insist that the dietary laws still stand then why not all of those? Things like circumcision, beards, tassels, blended fabrics and things clearly defined in the Bible but ones that never seem to attract the attention of dietary law keepers. How do you differentiate between the two since they are written side by side in the Leviticus? EdB |
