2 | In the Andes, name the Laws of the New | Ex 20:10 | In the Andes | 53636
The law has not been abolished but fulfilled and set aside. Heb 7:11, 12, see vs 18,19 Heb 7:28-8:1, 6 Now read Heb 8:7-12 And to conclude vs 13 says... "In that He says, "a new covenant" He has MADE THE FIRST OBSOLETE."The rest of the vs is talking about the jews. The law of the New Covenant is John 13:34-35, Rom 13:8-10, and ch 14 is an example of living that law. We do this by following the Spirit and bearing the fruit of the Spirit. The outworking of our Righteousness will include those things contained in the law. Walking in love, we will never commit adultery, etc. etc. But this is the point, The 10 Commandents made NO ONE PERFECT. Speaking of the Law and Commandments, Paul says in Col. 2:14-23 and Eph 2:14-16 That the law was the enmity that was against us. And Jesus put to death the enmity by taking it to the cross and nailing it there. I always thought he was talking about my sins, but that's not what it says. Jesus wiped out the handwriting of requirements-that was the law. So no one should pass judgement upon another believer about the sabbaths, that includes the weekly sabbaths, as well as the 3 year sabbath 50 yr etc. Paul says that keeping the law has an APPEARANCE OF WISDOM, but it is really, FALSE HUMILITY, and it has NO VALUE AGAINST THE INDULGENCE OF THE FLESH. The law cannot get sin out of our life. |

3 | In the Andes, Law the only OT covenant? | Ex 20:10 | Searcher56 | 53639
The Law cannot get sin out of our life ... it told us what our sin was. Even since Christ, we need the Law to know the perfect standard. If we don't have Christ the penalty of the Law will kill us. Is the Law a covenant? Were there more than one covenant in the OT? |

4 | In the Andes, Law the only OT covenant? | Ex 20:10 | In the Andes | 53653
There were tons of Covenants in the OT. Look at Deut. 4:13 So He declared to you His COVENANT which He commanded you to perform, THE 10 COMMANDMENTS; and He wrote them on two tablets of stone. Look at Deut. 5:2-3 The Lord our God made a covenant with us in Horeb. He did not make this covenant with our fathers, but with us, those who are here today... Did you notice that? 2 covenants, both based upon the same thing. Ch 4:13 There is NO misunderstanding that, the Covenant is the 10 commandments. The only thing God wrote on stone where those. The rest of the mosaic law rests on those 10. Therefore, I could be wrong, Paul refers continually to the 10 as the Law of Moses and Moses called the 10 a covenant, so the law was a covenant. If you've got evidence to the contrary, I'd like to know it cause I do think this is important. Now look at Deut. 29:1 These are the words of teh covenant which the Lord commanded Moses to make with the Children of Israel in the land of Moab, BESIDES THE COVENANT THAT HE MADE WITH THEM IN HOREB. Horeb was Mt Sinai the giving of the Law the 10 commandments. You know, I've been thinking about what you said we need the law. You know, you only need the law until you realize that you are a sinner. Once you figure out you are a sinner, you have no further need of it. That's my reading of Gal 3:24-25. How do you read it? What about Gal 4:21-24 Mount Sinai gives birth to bondage. that's the OT law including the 10. Again, let me reiterate, I have nothing against the 10. It's just not God's way of justifing His kids. We are justified freely by the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. Most Christians get saved, then go try to keep the 10 commandments to be spiritual. That's the whole point of the book of Galatians. The way you are saved is the way you become spiritual. BY FAITH. See Gal 3:1-9 and 5:7-26. If you are going to keep the "Sabbath" you might as well keep circumcision. I think we've beat this dead horse enough. It was a really fun topic. I'll find something equally fun for this week. |
