AMPLIFIED 2015 | Exodus 20:10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath [a day of rest dedicated] to the LORD your God; on that day you shall not do any work, you or your son, or your daughter, or your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock or the temporary resident (foreigner) who stays within your [city] gates. |
Subject: Honor the Sabbath |
Bible Note: Exodus 20 says nothing about honoring the Sabbath day. It says, "Remember the Sabath day, to keep it holy" (v.8). *Remember*, not *honor*. Sunday is not the Sabbath day. Exodus 20:10 "but the seventh day is the Sabbath..." Exodus 20:11 tells us why God wants us to remember the Sabbath. He says nothing about preventing burnout. What God does say in v. 11 is: "For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it." |
