AMPLIFIED 2015 | Exodus 20:10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath [a day of rest dedicated] to the LORD your God; on that day you shall not do any work, you or your son, or your daughter, or your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock or the temporary resident (foreigner) who stays within your [city] gates. |
Bible Question: Honoring the Sabbath Day is one of the ten commandments, why do some believers think that that one has been done away with. Aren't we still supposed to honor the Lord's day of rest? Can someone explain please. |
Bible Answer: I've got an even better question for you. Follow in your bible. Deut 4:13 2 Cor 3:6- Ministers of the new covenant-NOT OF THE LETTER The new covenant/testament is of the spirit The old covenant/testament is of the letter(of the law) The letter(of the law) kills. 2 Cor 3:7- The MINISTRY OF DEATH was written and engraved upon STONES. Here's your question...What was engraved upon stones? You got it, the 10 commandments. Paul calls them the letter that kills. the ministry of Death, vs 9 the ministry of condemnation. Gal 3:13- Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law. 4:9 why do we desire to return to bondage again, 5:1 we are not to be entangled again in the yoke of bondage (to the law). 5:2 we are not to try to please God by returning to the rituals of the law, 5:3 If you begin to go back to the rituals of the law, you are a debtor to keep all of it. 5:4 You are separated from Christ when you try to keep the Law (10 commandments) Look at Colossians 2:16 SO LET NO ONE JUDGE YOU IN FOOD OR IN DRINK, OR REGARDING A FESTIVAL OR NEW MOON OR SABBATHS. Since we are redeemed from the curse the law brings, you are free to keep any day you like. Romans 14:5 One person esteems one day above another; another esteems every day alike, let each be fully convinced in his own mind. Don't let anyone pass judgement upon you. If you don't want to keep any day, don't. A good principle to live by is rest. If you don't rest you'll die early. But as far as pleasing God, forget about it. NO ONE EVER pleased God by keeping the l0 commandments. According to Gal 3 the law which contained the commandments was only in force till Christ came. It was a tutor to teach us we could not save ourselves but that we needed a savior. LEST ANYONE THINK I DON'T BELIEVE IN NOT COMMITTING ADULTERY, LYING STEALING ETC. Rom. 13:8-10 love fulfills the law! Look at vs 9 with further proves the 10 commandments were concidered by Paul to be the law. 5 of them are mentioned and in summation he said "AND IF THERE BE ANY OTHER COMMANDMENT". Vs 10 love is the fulfillment of the law. Jesus Gave the church a new law. See John 14-16 That is the law of love. If you love me, you won't steal my stuff. If you love me, you won't sleep with my wife, etc. etc. You fulfill THAT law by faith in God, and the power of the Spirit. It's a higher law, that only born again christians can keep. We don't have to keep any particular day. And going back to the law was the very heresy that Paul fought in almost everyone of his letters. Isn't it amazing all those scriptures the heresy hunters are using against the prosperity preachers and faith healers directly refer to the heresy of going back to the law. How many of them, believe we must keep the 10 commandment in order to be saved? I give this test to people, Do you believe we must keep the 10 commandments in order to be saved? the overwhelming majority say yes. Then and Ask them to list them. 95 percent cannot list all 10. The ones that can rarely get the order right and if they do, they normally have a catholic background. |
