2 | Daniel - King's Food | Dan 1:8 | kalos | 108429 | ||
Daniel knew the Law of the Torah and he apparently knew what the king ate and drank. Therefore, Daniel would know that eating the king's food would be a violation of the Law, which was something he would not want to break. Likewise in our day if one reads and studies the Bible he/she will know when something is a sin. (Sin is the transgression of the Law.) Otherwise, he/she won't. I hear people say "God hasn't convicted me of this or that." So? Why would anyone wait until God convicts them of a certain sin, when the Bible plainly tells us what things are sin? The written Word of God, forever settled in heaven (Ps 119:89 ), is much more reliable than our own subjective feelings. |
