2 | does eternal have a beginning? | Jer 1:5 | Hank | 23302
Ethan, first I offer the disclaimer that what I am going to say borders too closely on the abstruse and metaphysical for my own comfort; I hesitate to walk on so thin a layer of ice but will risk it in the hope that it may help in thinking about the eternal as it applies to the life of human beings. Human beings have not always existed. They are created and like all things created, they have a beginning. Even though their genesis, unlike God, who had no beginning, can be traced to a definite time, they who know Christ as Savior are promised eternal life with Him...... So, is there a sense in which there are two kinds of eternities? I think that there is. There is God's eternity: it has no beginning and no end. There is man's eternity: it has a beginning but no end. It may not help you to view it this way; and I'm first to admit that it is a clumsy and feeble attempt to explain it. And I confess also to my sometime foolishness in rushing in where angels fear to tread. Still and all, if it helps you, I will be pleased. If it doesn't, then I trust that the only effect of the post will be that it has used up a rather trifling amount of memory in Lockman's memory bank! --Hank
3 | does eternal have a beginning? | Jer 1:5 | ethan | 23316
thanks hank it does help. that was the way i used to think heres what i think now. i have been challenged to prove all things and correct all my doctrine and any that i find that dont Glorify Jesus and or are not based on scripture or are wives tales like, the eye of the needle in the wall of jerusalem. it never existed by history or bible in any wall of Jerusalem. i am questioning all that is my foundation in Christ to find what and why i am not moving in signs and wonders. And as my journey has led me back to the Word. to weed out false doctrines in myself and get a balance of the Word. i know Love plays the Big Key and being pure of heart. The Lord is leading me through a hard struggle but His Yoke is light and His burden is easy. so the more word revealed by revelation from the throne room the closer i get to know Jesus. and if my name was in the lambs book of life before the foundation of the world then my whole life was in Gods mind and thoughts. which means that He has a blue print all written out for my life, for in His head (imagination) I was there in Christ with God walking through Life Praising Him. For being the wise builder that He was counted all the costs to have us Redeemed by Himself. So that is where i am at bless you Hank!
4 | does eternal have a beginning? | Jer 1:5 | Ray | 23371
Hi ethan, You had an earthly beginning when you were conceived by your father and mother. Until you were born you were just in the head (imagination) of your father; just a "gleam in his eye". I agree that we were included from the beginning and are sons of the Father from the beginning. But we had a spiritual birth and now "hold fast to the Head, from whom the entire body, being supplied and held together by the joints and ligaments, grows with a growth that is from God." Colossians 2:19 Col 1:17, "...and in Him all things hold together. He is also the *Head of the body, the church; and He is the *Beginning, the first-born from the dead; so that He (Himself) might come to have first place in everything...through Him, I [Paul] say, whether things on earth or things in heaven." Colossians 3:4, "When Christ, who is our Life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory." Right now we are walking through life with Him. So walk in (Him). Ephesians 5:8, "...for you were formerly darkness, but now you are *light in the (Lord); walk as children of Light (for the fruit of the Light consists in all goodness and righteousness and truth), trying to learn what is pleasing to the Lord."
