Greetings Ethan! I assume that you are referring to Gen. 6:3 - "Then the LORD said, ‘‘My Spirit will not contend with man forever, for he is mortal; his days will be a hundred and twenty years.”" There are a couple of possible answers to your question. 1) The 120 years could refer to the time until the flood and not to the life span of man. 2) The 120 years could refer to the life span on the Nephilim only. 3) The 120 years could be a general figure referring to the life span of humans. However, the number could change based on health, lifestyles, nutrition, and luck! Concerning Ps. 90:10, I would say that we have to remember it is poetry. The psalmist is expressing himself in poetry, so in v. 10, he may simply be expressing his experience, not a promise from God. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
