1 | God's Regard for Cain's Offering? | Gen 4:5 | lionheart | 205997
stoneslinger, Good to have you here. It states early on in Gods Word that without the shedding of blood there was no forgiveness of sin, I believe Gen 3:19 is strong evidence. What we can take away from this account of Cain and Abel is that Abbel brought his best before God while Cain did not. Fast forward to the present, God gave his best when He sent His Son for us. This says a whole lot about what the attitude of our hearts should be everyday as we offer up our lives to God. When I read the account of Cain and Abel I see the lengths at which God will go for his people. Cain could have and would have been right with God if he had only dealt with his heart and God left the door open for him to do so. Repententence is an amazing thing, it's to bad that we wait until we are faced with the consequences of our sin before we will wake up and smell the coffee. |

2 | God's Regard for Cain's Offering? | Gen 4:5 | azurelaw | 206011
Dear Brother Lionheart, While I agree with you, something interests me and makes me ponder when I read on the verses. I wonder what was Cain thinking and expecting when he made the sacrifice. Apart from the conventional teaching (which I agree whole heartedly as well), what was in Cain's heart that made his offerings not acceptable to God? Could he be taking it for granted (that's why he was angry when God rejected) that God would accept him? His self-rightousness? What do you think? Gen 4:5 but for Cain and for his offering He had no regard. So Cain became very angry and his countenance fell. Gen 4:6 Then the LORD said to Cain, "Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? Gen 4:7 "If you do well, will not your countenance be lifted up? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door; and its desire is for you, but you must master it." Shalom Azure |
