1 | Would Adam and Eve have fallen? | Gen 3:13 | ebrain | 186915
Hi Vincent. Your question made me think that what follows might be of interest. May the Lord bless you, and keep you safe. ebrain. Subject: Fw: The Fall. The popular view on Genesis Ch 3, certainly in this Country is that Adam was a wimp, in that he did nothing to help his wife when she was tempted, however, my investigations have shown him to be a hero. I am interested to find out if others can arrive, or have arrived at the same conclusion. If you have not considered this matter, and wish to do so then I would suggest that you avoid human commentaries, and rely solely on the Divine commentary. The Bible is the best commentary there is on the Bible. Just look at what the word of God has to say else ware about Adam, Eve, and the fall. Good hunting. Yours in Christ. pabrain Time is somewhat limited at the moment, so I will have to be brief. Read Romans Ch 5 v 14. and ask yourself what is meant by Adam being a Type of Him who was to come? What did Jesus do to save His Bride, what did Adam do to save his Bride? Read 2 Cor Ch 5 v 21. "He who knew no sin permitted Himself to be made sin" Also don't forget that Adam was not deceived 2nd Tim Ch 2 v 14. He knew exactly what he was doing. Now how does v15 say that Eve would be saved?. Did Adam go to the tree to obtain the fruit as She did, no he went to her and took the fruit from her,,, he took her sin upon himself. Don't worry about the second part of v 6 of Gen Ch 3. I will explain that another time. Must close now. In Him pabrain My reason for asking this question in the first place was to find out if anyone else arrived at the same conclusion that I had. I once heard a Speaker describe Adam as "A hopeless, helpless, useless, spineless good for nothing, who did not even raise a finger to help his wife who he could clearly see was in danger of disobeying God". The Speaker went on to say that "Eve at least put up token resistance, and as we know from Scripture she was deceived, we also know that Adam was not deceived, which really puts him beneath contempt". All this I found difficult to accept, it did not gel, it did not seem to have the ring of truth. My approach was two fold, firstly from the Divine view point, and secondly from the Satanic view point. The Lord our God created/made all things in 6 days. His comment on the first 5 days was "It is good", regarding the 6th day He said "It is very good" This was the day in which He made man both the male, and the female. I do not think it would be an exaggeration to say that the making of man was for God "The supreme pinnacle of Divine creative genius". He made man in the image of God, and after His likeness, so what likeness of God does Adam display? hopeless, helpless? oh no never, never, not the God that I know. could we say to our Lord "Is this the best that You can do?" I think not. To be continued. In Him stbrain |

2 | Would Adam and Eve have fallen? | Gen 3:13 | Hank | 186953
All very interesting, Sir Brain, but on this side of the pond, at the little red school house where I learned to read, they didn't offer Readingbetweenthelines 101. Later on by the time I attended Graduate School (seventh grade), at the age of 27, I took the course, but by then I was too old to adapt very well to new concepts, so I never got the hang of Readingbetweenthelines. All I was ever able to see between the lines was blank space. That, and nothing more. But apparently some folks get pretty good at this between-the-lines reading, especially when it comes to Scripture. I know it puts no stars in my crown to envy, and I should shun it, but sometimes I do envy those sage expositors who apparently can get so much out of what they read between the lines. It must be fascinating reading, and some people make a career of it. But, poor me, here I sit, stuck with the ability merely to read what Scripture says on the lines. I must confess that it excites my imagination when I hear of all this exciting action that goes on between the lines. People who have this marvelous gift of reading between the lines have no idea of how limited we dunderheads are who have to depend on what God says on the lines! But I guess we'll have to make do with the limited abilities we have and thank God for giving us even that much. --Hank

Hi Hank. Thank you so much for your kind words of support, which I find most informative, and very encouraging. Allow me to make a statement that I know you will wholeheartedly agree with, and then let me ask you ask you a question. Firstly the statement. Adam was made, sinlessly perfect, in the image of God, and after His likeness, also Adam was not deceived. And now the question. What sort of image of God, did Adam who was sinlessly perfect, and not deceived give? ebrain. |

ebrain - My words of support, you say? Support? I suppose the irony in my remarks about your speculation got lost in translation. I wrote it inAmerican English and you read it in British English. ...... Sir, what I wrote was not intended to lend encouragement to your musings and free-wheeling verbal meaneerings. On the contrary, it was pure satire. Frankly I was poking fun at your flights of fancy, not praising them. I had rather hoped that my post would dispel your reveries and serve to jar you back on the track of orthodoxy. not egg you on to play more games of "Let's Pretend." ...... I'll pass on the question you posed to me. Though I'm getting on in years, I don't have the distinction of having known Adam personally, so I really have no idea of what image of God Adam gave. ..... I take issue, by the way, with your presentation (in another post) of speculation as having the fine attributes you assign to it. From speculation to theological nonsense is a very short path and a virtually certain one. I've been able to avoid speculation to some extent by making myself a promise that I will hold off on speculating about what the Bible doesn't make clear until I master all tha things that the Bible does not make clear. It works for me. Why don't you try it sometime? --Hank

Your post of 8.06 pm yesterday confirms what I suspected, that your previous one was nothing more than pure sarcasm. Many visitors to this site, who are looking for help, and advice, will have and concluded that Christians are compassionate, and love one another.. What do you suppose they will think when they read material like yours, which is both uncalled for, and insulting to the recipient. |
