1 | question to smoke pot or not | Gen 1:12 | Reformer Joe | 54804
You wrote: "The question to smoke pot or not to is a personal one. One between the Lord and each individual." Well, no. At least not in the United States. The Holy Spirit tells us: "Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God. Therefore whoever resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God; and they who have opposed will receive condemnation upon themselves. For rulers are not a cause of fear for good behavior, but for evil. Do you want to have no fear of authority? Do what is good and you will have praise from the same; for it is a minister of God to you for good. But if you do what is evil, be afraid; for it does not bear the sword for nothing; for it is a minister of God, an avenger who brings wrath on the one who practices evil." --Romans 13:1-4 and "Submit yourselves for the Lord's sake to every human institution, whether to a king as the one in authority, or to governors as sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and the praise of those who do right. For such is the will of God that by doing right you may silence the ignorance of foolish men." --1 Peter 2;13-15 So the medical benefits aside (for which many states make provisions), no Christian should be engaging in illegal activities unless it is a law strictly prohibiting one's glorifying God. Peter, the one who penned the second passage above, is the same prison who ended up in jail and ultimately executed for the "crime" of Christianity. He, therefore, understood the difference between going to jail for the Lord's sake and submitting to laws that one even thinks to be unjust for the Lord's sake. Then we have the issue of addiction, which is a completely different argument. "All things are lawful for me, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be mastered by anything." --1 Corinthians 6:12 It seems that the Christians for Cannibis are using the name of Christ in vain to basically support the right to do whatever they want. God created sex, too. Can I go cheat on my wife if it is "done with thansgiving"? Talk about picking and choosing one's verses! While there may be legitimate reasons for opposing America's worldwide war on drugs, the alleged "God-given right" of everyone to get high is not one of them. Glorifying God often means saying "no" to our fleshly desires, which is something these guys apparently don't get. --Joe! |

Joe- I am agreement with you on the fact that what is said in scripture is truth and there is no budging on that which is plain. Obviously we can't cheat on our wives or rob banks . I am only comparing a small amount of pot to a glass of wine. In my homble opinion I see no difference. Both are harmless in small amounts. This is my opinion and I don't think scripture speaks against this. We are to be soberminded and not drunk with wine. The application is obvious. We are not to be stoned on pot either. Well I can tell you that for some individuals can smoke it or eat without it making them "drunk". Let each man decide whether they can or not. -Jeshuafreak |

3 | question to smoke pot or not | Gen 1:12 | Norrie | 54866
How can you smoke pot and not get stoned? What would be the purpose of that? Even the cancer patients that can use it legally must get stoned. I agree that casual pot smoking is better than getting drunk tho, far more people wreck on alcohol than pot but...:)
