1 | Is this when Abram was declared righteou | Gen 12:1 | mbooker | 57354
Gensis 15:4-6 And behold, the word of the Lord came to him, saying, This man shall not be your heir, but he who shall come from your own body shall be your heir. And He brought him outside [his tent into the starlight] and said, Look now toward the heavens and count the stars--if you are able to number them. Then He said to him, So shall your descendants be. And he [Abram] believed in (trusted in, relied on, remained steadfast to) the Lord, and He counted it to him as righteousness (right standing with God). If my understanding is correct, this is when Abram was counted righteous. |

2 | Is this when Abram was declared righteou | Gen 12:1 | kalos | 57475
Since Genesis 15:6 says in plain English "And he [Abram] believed in (trusted in, relied on, remained steadfast to) the Lord, and He counted it to him as righteousness (right standing with God)," then I would say your understanding is correct. This is PRECISELY when Abram's faith was accounted to him as righteousness. After reading this PLAIN passage of Scripture, any other answer is pure speculation and wishful thinking. To whom it may concern: What about Heb. 11:8? There's not one word in this verse about justification or righteousness. Let's not read into Scripture something that is not there. |
