1 | Is there a v. that mandates prostration? | Ps 63:4 | Morant61 | 14336
Greetings Steve! I understand that "proskuneo" refers to prostrating oneself before someone or something. However, where is there any Scripture that commands this to be the only position for worship? I don't recall any, but I could be wrong! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

2 | Is there a v. that mandates prostration? | Ps 63:4 | Searcher56 | 14381
Tim, Matthew 4:10. When the people gathered they knew that raising their hands and other positions (other than proskuneo) were not part of worship, but, of praise. This is a guess based on the context of when this happened in the Bible. Do we view worship like we do the word love? We can say we love the Lord, but it is only the love of a friend. We think that we do not have to go further. I think about Peter (John 21:15-19). We think we worship because someone has said that worship is raising your hands. I do not hear that we need to bow before the Lord very often. I think we need to be more precise in our meanings of the word we translate, in-cluding worship and love. Steve |

3 | Is there a v. that mandates prostration? | Ps 63:4 | Morant61 | 14433
Greetings Steve! I understand your position and I can even agree partitally. There is an attitude that ought to be there in worship which isn't there in many cases. However, since Scripture never commands one position or even one kind of worship, I am just not comfortable saying that only one position would be correct. I believe that a well rounded definition would include all of the aspects mentioned in Scripture. Worship must be: * Reverent and fearful... * Loving... * Lived out in our service to Him... * Ect... It is a wonderful subject. I was trying to find a book I used to have on worship, but I couldn't find it. I still have boxes and boxes of books that I haven't unpacked, so it is probably in them somewhere. Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

Tim, we can agree to disagree. I do have a paper on worship - the who, what, where, when and why. If you or anyone want to read it, ask. Steve
