1 | Are praise and worship different? | Ps 63:4 | Makarios | 14000
Greetings, I appreciate your input! Yes, I also know many people who practice the 'raising up' of their hands during worship, and by no means do I condemn this form of worshipping our Lord, even though I myself do not practice it. Forum member, you are very new to this Forum and I welcome you! However, I will not repeat your Screen Name in any of my posts, since I took your name at first glance to mean "a snake". I do not believe that I would be bringing any glory whatsoever to God in any way by repeating your screen name, Forum member. Perhaps if you would reveal your name or change your Screen Name to something that I could repeat, then I would be a little more comfortable addressing you. As for myself, I have most recently changed my Screen Name for the very reason that this Forum has become and is becoming so much more "public" than ever!! I have become a little 'wary' of using my real name on such a public forum as this. Therefore, I sought to be creative in changing my Forum Name (but not my Forum identity). :) However, "Nicodemus" may not be what I entirely decide upon, since my mind has not been totally "made up". :) For my first 1,715 postings my Screen Name was Nolan Keck. For the past 8, it has been Nicodemus. If anyone has any "suggestions" on what I should call myself, than please send me a note at nkeck98@yahoo.com! As for you, Forum member, I would suggest that you would find a Screen Name that would make us all a little more comfortable in referring to you, since fellowship is the emphasis here at this Forum (and fellowship about the Bible), and not anyone's Screen Name. Thank you! Your Brother in Christ, Nolan |

2 | Are praise and worship different? | Ps 63:4 | Joren | 14006
From Sir Pent's forum profile: You may be wondering about the meaning of my screen name. In one perspective, I try to be chivalrous in my dealings. There is also a second meaning, which combines the two words. I would refer you to Matthew 10:16. From Matthew 10:16 (KJV): "Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves." -- Joren |

Yes, I have read that Joren. But that does not affect they way that I feel about repeating his Screen Name. --Nicodemus |

4 | Are praise and worship different? | Ps 63:4 | Sir Pent | 14270
Nicodemus, I regret that you too are so offended by my chosen screen name. I have a three perspectives on this issue. 1. I believe that you are wrong to be so apperantly judgemental towards another person just because of a screen name. Especially when the name has been clearly defined in a biblical perspective in both the user profile, as well as by other forum members (thanks for your defense Joren). I would also submit that when God created the serpent or snake (as part of the overall creation), He said it was "good". And in the verse that I reference in my profile, Jesus encourages believers to emulate the positive attribute of wisdom modeled after the serpent. Besides this, my user name is not even Serpent, as such, emphasizing that side of things. But instead is Sir Pent, emphasizing the ideas of chivalry and knighthood. The combined word is only a secondary meaning. 2. My second perspective is this. You are a fellow believer in Christ. I know this from your postings, and from other knowledge which will at this time remain unspoken. Therefore, as a Christian, you must allow the Holy Spirit to guide your life. If just writing my user name in a post is somthing which the Spirit convicts you as being sinful, then I support your decision to refrain from doing that. 3. My final perspective is this. There is a biblical precedent for "judging a tree by its fruit". I would encourage you and all other members of this forum to read several of my responses to others questions. I believe this should give a much more accurate perspective on where I'm comming from than just deciding based on my screen name. |

5 | Are praise and worship different? | Ps 63:4 | Sandman | 14597
Nice reply SirPent, scripturally based and rooted in love. "We know that we all possess knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up. The man who thinks he knows something does not yet know as he ought to know." 1 Cor. 8:1-2 "Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love." Eph 4:2 Sandman |
